Friendly and Informative
I was previously a patient with Kaiser and have required 34 years of ENT care due to my ongoing ear issues since birth. I recently had an insurance change after all that time at Kaiser, which required me to establish care with a new ENT within my network. Dr Kalkanis greeted me with a bright and welcoming smile, was very personable, listened to my concerns and long and ongoing medical history, and showed great bedside manner and care. He also provided recommendations for my ongoing battle with vertigo as well. The wait time was a bit long but it’s expected in a specialist’s office, especially when the specialist is good, and in my experience, Dr Kalkanis provided upstanding care. His medical staff, including the audiologist who did my hearing test before my exam, were all very kind as well.

Excellent Visit
Today I had an appointment with Dr. Kalkanis concerning my loss of hearing. Based on some of the reviews I had read I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was given a number of hearing tests by the technician, Chase, who was very pleasant and professional. Next I met with Dr. Kalkanis who explained the results of my tests. He was thorough and answered all my questions. I left with a good understanding of my hearing loss and also the options available. I couldn't have asked for a better visit.

Not worth of one star
his dr needs to learn about patient care, customer service and bedside manners for practitioners. He does not listen to what his patient says, cutting people off mid-sentence, and did not even try to address our concerns and reasons for visiting him. My husband had a head injury resulting in a continuous internal buzzing sound. Dr. Kalkanis quickly examined my husband and suggested a nightguard due to supposed teeth grinding and handed us a brochure on this. As his staff did not correctly schedule the auditory exam, we had to go back a second time for the testing. The second time solidly proved 100% that he was unprofessional, careless and dismissive of any patient concerns. He said my husband had hearing loss according to the test and though we knew years ago about the hearing loss, when we asked if it's related to his injury he said "it's possible" and said he can try a hearing device. He didn't address the head injury and continuous buzzing, instead focusing on prior hearing loss.

Had to wait for over an hour after my scheduled appointment; Dr. Kalkanis was short fused and wasn't willing to discuss my symptoms; didn't have the x-rays until I reminded the staff that my Primary Care Doctor had ordered some; Dr. Kalkanis dimissed the x-ray remarks and just said that it was allergies...yep, two more medications

This was our second visit. First visit, we waited over an hour. I had my elderly mother with me and she needed to use the restroom. They directed us to a Mexican restaurant down the street! They said the bathrooms were out of order. Second visit, out of order signs still up, however, the doctor used them! I found Dr. Kalkanis to be extremely short, unwilling to take any time to answer SIMPLE questions! We will not be returning. I would NOT recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Kalkanis is over-booked and very short with patients. He has a short fuse and does not like to be questioned or to answer questions! I was seen two hours after my appointment time and yelled at for asking questions. Other patients in the waiting room were upset about the unreasonable wait and were very vocal about their displeasure!

Visited Dr Kalkanis for and Ear cleaning, which took all of 5 minutes. He billed my insurance $120.00 for an office visit, and $100 for "surgery". Insurance paid some, but I still owe $75.00 for the ear was removal.

I went to Dr. kalkanis today after suffering for 3 months after having a vertigo spell and then having popping of my ears every single day. I tried to explain I was more worried about my sinus problem which the MRI showed a diagnosis of silent sinus syndrome and fluid behind my ear (according to my primary care doctor) he quickly dismissed it all saying that's not what I have, before even looking at me. Then, he chalked it all up to allergies and TMJ and handed me a flyer to explain it to me.

Super amazing Doctor, his caring staff and him took care of me after my T&A. Not the easiest thing to heal from being age 25 at the time but none the less it was a super smooth operation and it couldn't have gone any better then it did. Thank you Dr. Kalkanis for everything I look forward to have no more strep/sore throats.

I had been dealing with an issue for 4 years, and no ENT was ever able to come up with a solution. This doctor took the time to listen to my needs, and strategically resolved my issue. The office is always busy, so plan to be patient but, it's worth it.

I went to him last week after waiting two weeks for my appointment. I was recovering from sinuitius and had ended an antibiotic given from urgent care but my ears were still feeling plugged and massive pressure in my head for over three weeks! He said my ears looked clear and the pressure test was good and blamed it on TMD or TMJ my jarbone. So I went to the dentist the next day for full xrays and exam and he said it is not my jaw bone and it didn't look like I grinded my teeth like Dr. Kalkani
