The total package for me
I first met Dr. Heim at Sisters Hospital when she took care of my father through a long difficult illness. She was compassionate, thorough, treated dad with dignity, and explained things in a simple but respectful way that our very non-medical family could easily understand. She seemed knowledgable as specialists didn't usually have much to add to her explanations and plan. For a doctor, she has a refreshing and approachable bedside manner - a reassuring presence during that very uncertain, emotional time. Then I found out she has a private practice outside of the hospital! Almost everyone in my family has since switched to her for primary care now. I've found her staff to be responsive and friendly so far. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this lovely doctor except maybe that it took months to get in for an initial appointment. It makes sense though - people got the memo they'd be lucky to have her.

Refused treatment
I am a patient who today has covid. Tight chest, coughing. Called to see if I should get a script. Nurse calls back and says since I haven't been in in over a year, they wont talk to me until I have a physical at the end of August. (Never mind they call me every six months to tell me they are sending a script for a mammogram, but never mention I can't get care without annual physical). I'm on plaxovid a half hour later. This "nurse" should be fired. I don't appreciate calling MY doctor sick with covid and not even be ASKED how I'm feeling. What kind of office is this?

She is a rude and unprofessional doctor. Does not listen to patients needs. Always advising to see treatment somewhere else.

Wonderful doctor, concerned, kind and compassionate. The first doctor I have had that I actually look forward to seeing. She helped me through almost a year long battle with severe vertigo, I couldn't be more grateful. Her office staff is efficient and I am always able to make a timely appointment. What could be better?

Both my husband and I came to her after bad experiences with other PCPs. Dr. Heim listens, is not judgemental and provides excellent care. You get to see her every time, too.

She was rude and I felt dismissed. I went in with back pain in my right side and shooting Pain down that same leg that was causing me to limp a bit. She barely touched my back, didn’t suggest an xray, asked me multiple times if I’d done anything to strain it and I said no. Gave me a script for ibuprofen and told me to go to physical therapy if it still hurt in a week.. then had the nerve to ask me if I had been drinking that day (it was noon) bc I smelled like alcohol apparently.

I would NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone. Dr. Heim has no compassion and is uninterested in trying to improve the quality of life in her patients. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for the past 6 years. When I went to see her about this issue, I was told that I needed to see a Psychiatrist to help me cope with the pain that I thought I had!!!! I have never been more offended in my entire life, than that moment. DO NOT GO TO DR HEIM! She is arrogant and HEARTLESS!

Does not fully listen to your concerns. Only wants to treat symptoms not interested in finding cause. If you have an evening appointment prepare to feel rushed.

Had her staff call me to tell me I was lying about the dosage of an anti-anxiety medication I take. They called me two days in a row claiming my pharmacies in NJ&NY had no record of me taking the dosage I "claimed" I was taking. I have contacted my pharmacy, who even deny speaking to her team. She refused to call my NJ PCP who had originally prescribed to dosage for further verification. Instead, I was branded a liar and cheat. She broke an ethical code. Worst doctor I've ever seen. Stay away!

Dr Heim does not listen to any of your concerns. She has her mind made up about treatment regardless if you tell her your concerns and past experiences. I went in for a one thing, and was offered anti depressants....I looked at her bewildered and said 'but i'm not depressed'. I was so confused. She laughed at one of my health concerns, a cyst growing on my face and said it was nothing. I left the office in tears and have found a new doctor who took my concern seriously.
