Disrespectful, unprofessional
I saw this doctor once and will never return. He was disrespectful, incredibly hostile about the medication I was taking (and thriving on, might I add) from another provider, and he asserted things about my health history that were untrue and inappropriate. His reviews on the NW website are great, and extremely misleading. He was intent on being the only expert in the room, including on my own health even though he had just met me. Overall horrible experience.

“Worthless”
My Primary said I need to see an endocrinologist for abnormal labs.He walked in and abruptly asked why I was seeing him before reviewing my labs, chart or diagnosis. When I told him my reason and concern, he completely dismissed me, while offering no clinical guidance or value. He just chided me for seeing an endo and said my primary's labs are 'worthless'. We went back and forth until I said, 'I'm in crisis and you're not helping me', and he replied, 'That's right' (verbatim). I've never felt more unwelcome, unheard or unimportant in a doctor's office.I was told to see an endocrinologist for acute symptoms. Dr Papagiannis literally refused me care and offered no guidance, while making me feel insignificant.

Terrible experience
Had an appointment for 4 months. The office called me the day of the appointment to tell me not to come in, Dr Papagiannis doesn’t prescribe the thyroid medication I take. They told me they would call me back with a referral. Instead, they called me back an hour later and told me I’m on my own, they won’t refer me. I asked to have Dr Papagiannis call me and they said he wouldn’t call me.My thyroid has been low for 4-5 months and now I have to find someone else to see which means waiting several more months.

Needs to be curious about how patients are feeling
My thyroid medication had to be kept high to suppress cancer growth, but he never told me that I could experience negative side effects. He never asked how I was feeling. For 20 months I was so anxious that I could barely function and almost lost my job. I figured out from a friend who had a total thyroidectomy as well that my medication was too high and needed to be lowered. He seems concerned with numbers only and not how a patient is actually feeling.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Papagiannis. He was straight to the point, honest, showed me exactly where my thyroid is, and even drew me a diagram to explain the size difference and the location of it in my neck. He showed compassion, care, and wanted to make sure that the problem was solved or taken care of. He immediately got down to business, but also was really respectful of my concerns. I am happy to have him as my new endocrinologist.

Excellent! He truly listened and came up with significant reasons as to why my problem was the way it was. He definitely was thinking outside the box and truly listened to everything I told him and answered all my questions .

I nearly walked out on my first appointment with Dr. P. He could improve his interpersonal skills. BUT, thank God I didn't. He was hands down the BEST endocrinologist I have ever been to. He looked at my lab results and told me I didn't need 10 meds per day and started taking me off them one by one and it was a miracle (to me), that all my levels stayed the same and I went from 10 pills per day to zero. He may be abrupt and come off as a jerk but he is the BEST. Don't go in with thin skin and he will be the best endocrinologist you've seen.

Did not take the time to listen to or understand what I was needing out of my visit. He went off old blood test results from another doctor and told me I was fine. I waited 5 months to have the worst possible doctor visit of my life. I would NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone.

Although friendly enough and seems experienced, Dr. Papagiannis appears to be inadequate in dealing with things outside of the most basic, simplistic endocrinology concerns. I assumed, wrongly, that he'd be able to think outside of the box and help me to feel better. He's like 80% of the other MD's in the USA - basis everything off of the standard scale and doesn't listen to how a patient is feeling or look further into test results or symptoms.
