Dr. Howard Shaw, MD

Shaw delivered our first child in 2016. Husband thought he was great. Wife thought his bedside manner could be improved. In 2019 we used a different doctor practice, which was highly rated but not as good. This other practice was not giving the same attention, focus and rigor that Shaw provided. My wife says if we had another child, she would use Shaw again - he was the better doctor and she would feel more comfortable with him than another.

Dr Shaw has been mine and my sisters’ OBGYN for years and across us has delivered 5 of our kids; we wouldn’t go to anyone else! He is incredibly experienced and makes even stressful times relaxed and easy. Highly recommend!

Dr Shaw was a recommendation from another doctor and I’m so glad I went with the reco. He was friendly and immediately put as at ease as first time to-be parents. Dr Shaw was patient with us at each visit and answered all big and small questions, offering all relevant details to keep us as informed as possible. We had a few scares during the pregnancy and he was immediately available to talk things through and guide us through the scare. When I had to get admitted to Lenox Hill few weeks before the due date because of some unforeseen complications, he was very thorough in explaining what’s happening and what would be the best care plan. We had full faith in his professional opinion and got the best care not only from his but his team at Lenox Hill. Whilst admitted he was also prompt to take my husbands texts and calls to explain things and that really put as at ease. We couldn’t have asked for a better doctor during the pregnancy… Dr Shaw – thank you!

Dr. Shaw has been my doctor for over 20 years. He delivered my son. I completely trust him with my care and have referred my family and friends to him as well. He’s thorough, caring, kind and has a great sense of humor. Excellent bedside manner and professionalism.

Well, first of all, my review of Dr. Shaw has been deleted off of other platforms. So that should tell you something right away. I saw Dr. Shaw due to extreme pain in my groin and down my right thigh, as well as a small marble-sized mass in my pelvic area. He ordered a sonogram that came back normal, and then told me there was nothing he could do and that he didn't see or feel a mass. He literally asked me if I'd considered seeing a therapist. I asked for an MRI and he told me he just couldn't justify it. Fast forward several painful months from this encounter, and I was diagnosed via MRI with an inguinal hernia which required surgery. I had an issue that required surgery...and this person made me feel like I was crazy. I've never felt more hopeless than I did limping out of his office. I hope he sees this review and remembers me, because he needs to know how much that visit broke my spirit. Save yourself the trouble and go see someone who will actually listen to you.

Doctor Shaw recently delivered my daughter at Lenox Hill (Jan 2020). Through the entire process he was amazing! He was always available and easy to reach (and I am relatively high stress as this was my 1st baby). The staff always squeezed me in for an appointment last minute (it is hard for me to book in advance because of my work). I also had a couple complications along the way and he proactively recognized them and monitored me closely to make sure none developed into anything serious. We couldn’t have been happier and I would recommend him to any of my friends!

Dr Shaw delivered my first beautiful baby boy and I could not have asked for a better doctor. He is the absolute best. He is always straight forward and honest with questions and if there is something to worry about - he will tell you, if there is not, he will not allow you to worry about anything unnecessary for another second. His staff at his office and at Lenox Hill are phenomenal. If I'm lucky enough to have another baby, I'll be going back to him and will recommend him always.

The staff here is very nice but..I came in because I was in severe pain and the sonogram confirmed ovarian cysts. I explained to the doctor that I was in pain several times and while he referred me to a specialist he didn't seem to comprehend that I was in severe pain from these cysts which caused me to miss work the week prior to my visit. I was crying to the assistant in the exam room that I was in pain and that I needed some type of pain meds. They were suppsed to call in today. Didnt. :((

My case was very unique, I didn't think I would be able to carry a baby full term giving my history of miscarriages. Once I told Doctor Shaw my history he re-examed me and ensured me " he would do all he could to help me carry my baby full term". He kept his word and I can proudly say I am a mom of a beautiful baby girl! If I decide to have another child in the future I'm definitely going back to Doctor Shaw!

I love Dr. Shaw. He delivered my first child via a planned csection due to the fact that my son was breeched. Dr. Shaw always took time to sit and listen to my questions & concerns. He gave me honest and straightforward responses which I appreciated. My OR experience was perfectly uneventful. I got to enjoy good music and some cheesy jokes leading up to my delivery. My scar looks great and I've been able to text or call with any follow up questions when I'm not scheduled for a postpartum visit.

Dr. Shaw saved our lives! He suspected I had placenta accreta which can be fatal and difficult to diagnose. You can’t know for sure ‘til delivery but, if I had it, I’d likely hemorrhage. At 8 mos, he scheduled a C-section. A test showed the lungs weren’t developed, but he still admitted me for monitoring. I learned later it was against hospital policy but he fought and admitted me anyway. 12 HOURS LATER, I hemorrhaged! Had I not been in hospital care, we wouldn’t have lived. FOREVER GRATEFUL!

Dr. Shaw has been my Gynecologist/Obstetrician for more than 9 years. He delivered both of my sons (9 years old and 1 week old). He is caring, compassionate and funny. Dr. Shaw puts the health of his patients first. I trust in him wholeheartedly that he will always make the best and safest decisions for me and my family. He has the ability to make you comfortable and feel at ease, even in the most stressful or anxious situations.

I had my first baby with Dr Shaw about 8 weeks ago. His care was outstanding!! he was available EVERYTIME i had a question. I ended up having a c section and you can barely see the scar. He is funny and made my husband and I very comfortable. I suffer from high blood pressure and he took all the measures necessary for a healthy mom, and baby!

Dr. Shaw has been my Dr. for 17 years. I have had 3 smooth pregnancies/deliveries under his care. He is kind, caring, and without a doubt the best in his field!

I have been a patient of Dr. Shaw's for several years and he recently delivered by baby in June. I highly recommend him. Dr. Shaw answered all of mine and my husbands questions before, during and after my pregnancy. He even took the time to take my call on Sunday morning. However, he truly showed what a great physician he is when I needed to have an unplanned C-Section at 36 weeks due to a complication. He calmed me and my family down and was excellent during the entire procedure.

Dr. Shaw delivered my baby girl 2 months ago. I was a very nervous after having two miscarriages. Dr. Shaw always put me at ease. He is very knowledgeable and always emphatic. He also always gave my husband and I honest answers which we really appreciated. He is funny and easy to talk to and we were always comfortable to call and email him with questions. He is so personable and a great doctor and overall great person. We chose him because of the great reviews we read and they are all true!!

Dr. Shaw just delivered my baby boy and I saw him all throughout my pregnancy and was very happy. He takes the time to go over everything and answer all your questions without rushing you out. He is accessible by cell phone if you ever have any issues and is extremely responsive. He is also funny and always lightens the mood. I will continue to see Dr. Shaw and recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Shawn is a friendly and reliable doctor, but in terms of staff, particularly the woman named Elizabeth who is in the front desk has served me twice by phone a very descortez and stripped of all empathetic way.

Dr Shaw has delivered all three of my children and has taken excellent care of all of us. He has a wonderful bedside manner that combines his great sense of humor with compassion and knowledge

Dr. Shaw is an amazing doctor. He is straightforward, knowledgeable, caring, understanding and makes patients feel like his office is an open forum where discussion and questions can happen and be addressed, Let's talk about it, would be his response. He is thorough with explanations, solutions and next steps of your care. During delivery, he delivered my baby safe and took all precautions to do so. Made me feel at ease among all the labor pain I was feeling.
