Intolerable X-ray Technician
Dr. El Kommos is a wonderful doctor. He treated my broken ankle, got me back on my feet and I'm once again feeling great. His office staff is also wonderful. On the other hand, his x-ray technicians should be fired and replaced with people who care about the patients. I need my husband's help to get around due to both autoimmune disease as well as my hurt leg. The latest x-ray technician demanded my husband not come with me to help. She was incapable of helping me move easily and confidently. My husband is my support and is fully authorized to see any and all of my medical records. Her treatment of me and my husband was inexcusable. Fortunately, I was not injured due to her ignorance and managed with difficulty to get my shoes on and off and get on and off the x-ray table. She should be fired.

Broken Ankle – Feb 21, 2025

Perfect job!
My wife broke her femur bone in 2009. Dr. El Kommos screwed it back in place with two titanium screws, rather than replacing her hip. We're so thankful, especially since it healed up beautifully and is as strong and movable as the other side. No side effects, no pain or sensitivity in any kind of weather. Then last week she fractured her humerus (upper arm bone). We were concerned an orthopedist might want to do more than is necessary, but after x-rays, he assured her she does not need surgery or anything complicated, and only needs a sling and physical therapy. We feel so blessed with him.

Crusty fellow with a particular sense of humor, lackluster bedside manner, and excellent diagnostic and remediation skills. I think he's charming and demonstrates care and compassion, but I've had a lot of experience with orthopedic surgeons and don't have high expectations for a sympathetic ear.

Dr. El Kommos will never know how much I appreciate everything he’s done for me. I’ve been going to him for 25+ years and he has done several surgeries on me, the last one being a total knee replacement, and all have been a total success. Prior to my surgeries he explains everything that will be done and the follow up is amazing. I also love that I can do my physical therapy in the same building. One day when I was having a problem in physical therapy he came right over to check on me, and that was definitely a plus. I have a 93 year old mother who has had both knees replaced by him who is still walking around perfectly, and have several friends who have had Dr. El Kommos perform their surgery and couldn’t be happier with their outcome. If you find yourself in any need for surgery in the future I highly recommend Dr. El Kommos and his staff....they are the best!

The worst experience ever with a Dr. After driving 50 miles to pick up xrays to hand to him, his nurse didn't even look at them when she said I'd need more rays. I told her I didn't want more radiation. There were 3 xrays that I drove 50 miles for them for review. She was upset when she left to get the Dr. When he came into the room 5 minutes later, he had no smile, didn't introduce himself & didn't offer to shake my hand. He was already bothered & it showed. These were his first words, and I quote: "I can't read the xrays. If you don't want more xrays, go find someone else." And he walked out. That was probably the best advise he ever gave to a patient. So I took his advice & left. Had he made even a small attempt to put my mind at ease, or enter the room like the true professional he vowed to be when he took the oath, things may have turned out differently. No Dr. should ever treat their 'bread & butter' that way! If '0' stars were an option, that would have been my selection.

I have been seeing Dr. El Kommos for over 25 years for everything from bone spurs, ruptured disks and broken bones to total knee replacement. He is quite simply the best surgeon I have had the pleasure of working with and he trains other surgeons on proper surgical procedures and techniques. I have full and complete confidence in Dr. El Kommos and attribute my full and complete recovery(s) to his expertise and guidance.

In August of this year I fractured my left elbow in a fall at the Jetties Park at Port Canaveral, Florida. It was a severe injury, with the head of the radial bone in the lower arm broken off and the Luna bone in the upper arm shattered into 4 or 5 pieces. Additionally the elbow was dislocated and the ligaments and tendons torn. Dr. El Kommos was able to repair this injury by replacing the broken radial with a titanium rod and surgical repairs of the upper arm. I highly recommend Dr. El Kommos.

In April 2018 my wife had severe back pain due to L-1 spinal fracture. After leaving the hospital, Sidney was scheduled for surgery a week later. However, the doctor's staff ladvised that the surgeon was going on vacation. Being in dire straits we contacted Space Coast Orthopedics on a Wednesday, and were to referred to Dr. El Kommos the same day. Though fully booked for Friday surgeries, he added Sidney. The L-1 Kyphoplasty restored Sidney to full functioning again.

I had two hip replacement surgeries in 2018 and Dr El Kommos was my surgeon. I had been suffering with chronic knee pain for a couple of years and as soon as I went to see him he identified my problem was actually my hips that was causing the pain and after having xrays we discussed scheduling the surgery as soon as possible. One year later I feel like I have my life back! Both my surgeries went extremely well. I am a very satisfied, pain free patient!

I had suffered for years with damaged knees with bone on bone knee joint. Due to extreme weight actually had a bend in my leg. Dr El Kommos replaced my left knee in November of 2017 and after healing did my right knee in March of 2018. No more joint pain or issues. Dr El Kommos was very concerned that my end result was perfect and my legs were once again straight. His work was beautiful, I actually carry a picture of my xray showing my pretty new joints. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. El Kommos and the staff at Space Coast Orthopedics provided excellent care following my knee replacement in November 2018. I was up and walking the same day and I really appreciate that Physical Therapy is in the same location. Everyone that I have had contact with has been extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. El Kommos to family and friends--and have already done so.

Dr. Kommos did hip surgery on my 81 year old mother who wasn't walking anyway and had a bad heart. She passed away this morning just a few days after the surgery. He should be held responsible for his neglagence and greed to make money off her hip surgery knowing she probably wasn't strong enough for it. Do not trust him

Probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Must be nice to get paid and spend 60 seconds with patients. He literally tells you nothing and explains nothing. God forbid you have questions. And don't get me started on some glorified receptionist who walks around giving medical advice in his office. Don't even know what this guys position is but he felt the need to come into my exam room uninvited. I'll drive out of my way to Orlando before I go 10 minutes down the road to Dr. Kommos.

Dr. El Kommos didn't have Cape Canaveral Hospital emergency room's MRI & Xrays for a torn meniscus so I had to pay for 2 more Xrays which he glanced at. He said he doesn't trust MRIs. He rubbed my knee and gave me a cortisone shot without washing hands, wearing gloves or using alcohol swab before injection. I emailed him my concerns. He sent me a letter terminating me as a patient. Returning to MI, I saw my own ortho Dr. and am scheduled for a knee replacement. Dr. EK seemed rushed & not caring

Dr. El Kommos replaced both my hips and has operated on my knee twice. I would not let another doctor treat me, as I feel he is the best. He is very thorough with his decisions and answers any questions you have. I like that he is not quick to do surgery as I have back problems and he explained why he didn't want to operate.
