Had a Pituitary macro-adenoma removed by Dr. Gerras, Transphenoidal, 22 yrs ago, today actually 3.7.02. Hubs and I moved into a house to start a family 2 months prior. Dr G removed my Pituitary, accidentally and as a result I have had many serious health conditions, including a stroke, with over 10 clots. I was left with 'Panhypopit'. LIFE on medications, having to fight for necessary meds, having to prove why I need this or that and having to do horrible testing, for all my life. NOT having a Pituitary is not common, and not many medical pro's even knows what you are talking about, including him. Having to educate all of my doctors, because it's rare. Over 25 trips to the ER, basically on regular basis. He has a God complex, like most NS's. I'm relieved I can finally warn others with this review. He was so overly-confident. I was 32, now 54, current life title is Profess. Patient. Dr. G should learn more about PANHYPOPITUITARY LIFE. You lose YOU, when you lose your hormones.

I met Dr Gerras the morning of my brain surgery as he was the on call for Kaiser. Immediately I could sense he had a level of confidence that assured me. He talked me through the procedure and made me feel comfortable. After surgery I recovered and was out of the hospital a day later. My scar is virtually non existent. I had no complaints or bad experience with him and would definitely choose him as my neuro-surgeon if my tumor ever comes back (Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen).

Unfortunately I have had three brain surgeries with Dr . Gerras to remove tumors. Each surgery went well unfortunately the tumors keep coming back. Not a procedure anyone really wants to get done, let alone once. I have had four of these surgeries the first was with a different surgeon. I feel like I’m an old pro at this. Dr.Gerras does great work you can barely tell I have a scar on my head from surgeries. He is straight forward with you and explains everything to you in easy to understand words. I would recommend him to anyone if they needed his skills. After each brain surgery I was up and around the next day. I think that is a credit to his work. He has a great sense of humor which makes things less stressful. Nobody ever wants surgery let alone four in the brain.
