He treated my elderly mother-in-law (who has advanced Dementia) after she was taken to the ER via ambulance. My first interaction was as we waited in Pre-Op holding with her. Not sure if he saw her in the ER before we got there. Nevertheless, he was beyond kind & reassuring, and never spoke as if she wasn’t in the room, he still spoke directly to her, first, who he was, then explaining what her condition is, why surgery is urgent, how long it would take& where we could wait and rejoin her when she wakes up. Then asked if we had any questions. Thank you Dr. Piefer, for allowing her to keep her dignity, not speaking over her to us like she’s a baby, and not speak to her as if she were 2yr old. REMINDS ME of the saying regarding people w dementia: “They won’t remember what you said, but they WILL remember HOW you made them Feel. Plus, he fixed her problem, and she was feeling better in no time. We will continue to let her see him as an outpatient. We need more Dr’s just like Dr P.

The Doctor himself is a caring and professional doctor who wants to help. He is bogged down by an inconsiderate bunch of Lying and dishonest staff who would rather argue with you than apologize for lying to get you in.
