Dr. Horton was great
Reviews of Dr. Horton had me terrified to go into my first appointment with him today. I’m glad I didn’t try to reschedule with somebody else. He may not be a man of many words, but that does not make him rude or unprofessional. It just makes him NOT a butt kisser. I know everybody else who left reviews saw the same packed waiting room I did today; the man is busy. That didn’t stop me from feeling like I was his only focus when he was in the room with me. I’m looking forward to having him perform my upcoming procedure.

I saw Dr Horton for a second opinion after my previous orthopedic doctor gave little hope of saving my foot due to osteomyelitis. Dr Horton agreed to see me even though he has a very busy schedule due to his reputation for being the best. He offered me treatment I had not been made aware of previously. I am healing and hopeful and so very thankful for his expertise. I would recommend him to anyone who needs foot surgery! I believe he's one of those doctors who is a 'hippocratic hero'.

performed a procedure he didn’t know how to do?
Dr. Horton should have told me he wasn’t experienced in performing the surgery I needed. He did a different procedure than we discussed. Felt like he was just experimenting on my foot to get some experience, terrible outcome. Have a lot of pain still several years later.

Horrid Personality/Terrible Bedside Manner
My wife went to Mr. Horton for a sever ankle injury she that wasn't healing She and I both found his behavior to be utterly unprofessional, For example, when he couldn't find what he was looking for in her file, he dropped f-bombs complaining to himself about it. He questioned her intelligence, ( she is a science professor so she is very smart) when she tried to make a joke of how she hurt herself. He went on to suggest she couldn't handle even the tiniest amounts of pain and treated her as though she was wasting his precious time stating it was probably just a sever sprain. All this after waiting more than an hour past her appointment time to see him. Long story short we found another surgeon who found that she needed an ankle replacement and couldn't believe she was still walking on it , albeit with a cane. A year later and she is doing amazing-no thanks to Mr. Greg Horton whose belligerence and unprofessional demeanor encouraged us to go elsewhere. Go ANYWHERE else but to him.

Insurance Doctor, Questionable Ethics
Dr Horton is unable to talk to patients without belligerent aggression. He was completely unable to communicate in a professional manner and brushes aside workers comp injuries as a waste of his time, which is helpful if your an insurance company but lousy if you are an injured worker. Mr. Horton insulted me by saying pain is unrealistic because the x-ray shows no broken bones- as though bones are the only reason a foot could be discolored, swollen, and unstable and painful. He made it very clear his job was to help workers comp insurance companies, not those with medical issues. Be sent me packing with admonition that my issue wasn't worth his time. There are plenty of other doctors in the KC area, pick ANY of them before choosing Dr. Horton, he's got his priorities pretty messed up. I would leave negative stars if possible.

Dr Horton and his team did exceptional with my ankle surgery. The medical office is a well oiled machine and always followed up with messages and phone calls within a reasonable time considering how busy they are! I would recommend Dr Horton in a heartbeat to anyone needing ankle/foot surgery. Always make sure you follow his post op instructions!

I wouldn't recommend him to my family or friends. Worst post op experience I've ever had. Except to wait one to two hours at a minimum to see him, and thats only if his nurse or office assistant doesn't cancel appointment on you. Asking him trival questions are not appreciated either...HORRIBLE bedside manner.

Dr. Horton communicates as little as possible. In my 1st appt he spoke only to his posse and left with no explanation to me of his plans for my ankle. I didn't see him again until after surgery 4 months later. I was not aware until the bandage-change that he had operated on my FOOT, not my ankle. Only then did he notify me that the process would involve 2 surgeries, not one- double the expense and recovery time, a huge shock. I was furious- not at the necessary process but at not being informed.

Dr. Horton is a genius ! This is why his office is full and you may need to wait a while. Small price to pay for a job done right the first time. I had a triple arthodesis and an anterior tendon lengthening performed on me by this highly skilled physician. I am 5 weeks post-op and healing beautifully. I am so thankful I decided to deal with the slight inconvenience of traveling down to Kansas City from Omaha, Ne for my procedure.
