Dr. Grant Whittaker, MD

Dr. Whittaker is an awesome Doctor, he listens attentively and truly cares about his patients wellbeing. He maintains quality time with me during my office visits, allows me to ask questions and reassures me that he will get to the core of my health concerns. Thank You Dr. Whittaker for being an outstanding physician.

We found him to be a little snarky and off putting. Not warm and fuzzy. Acted sort of put out to be there

Dr. Whittaker is very straight forward and direct which is what I love. He listened to all of my concerns and put my worries to ease before/after my procedures. I found him to be very thorough as he done every test there was to find my issue. I highly encourage people to advocate for themselves and I promise it will produce better results. Address every issue/concern with Dr. Whittaker and I am positive he will address it so long as it's within his scope of practice!

Went to him for heartburn, bloating, pain in chest, fatigue. Didn’t feel he really listened, but he ordered CT Scan, follow up with his PA a month after and brought her info from primary care doctor showing diagnosis from 2018 for hiatal hernia and she scheduled Endoscopy for a month later. The day of the Endoscopy, when I saw Dr. Whittaker before procedure I asked him if he had seen report, , said he was doing my endoscopy and he would see if I actually had one, also informed him my meds were no longer working for reflux, which he never addressed. After Endoscopy was told I did not have a hiatal hernia, and he would relook at my CT scan. Next day phoned and said no hernia, asked then what next? He said he could refer me to a surgeon to open me up and look around to see what he could find, I said that does not sound like a option, said I could just live with it! Have seen a new gastro doctor, did Esophagus Barium Swallow, I do have hernia,so after months being treated correctly!

He made a mistake that caused me to go to the ER and did absolutely nothing to help. Worst doctor ever, it’s shocking that he hasn’t been sued and is still allowed to practice medicine.

I just had a colonoscopy / endoscopy at Barrs st . Staff was great.Dr. Whitaker saw me after recovery and told me my colon and esophagus was clean but I had tons of mucus on my appendix which was serious and I needed a CT scan right away. I was alert and I asked if it could be cancer. He said could be. I have never heard of cancer of appendix asked him questions, he got mad said I am not dealing with you you are under anesthesia. He refused to talk to my husband. I was very upset. It took the nurses to calm my anxiety down. I had Dr. Phillips 6 years ago who was kind and listened and explained. I contacted the office later and said I would never see Whittaker again. I am an LCSW from a family of physicians. You don't tell a patient you may have cancer , make a nasty comment and walk away . Not my idea of a decent dr. Go for Dr. Harvey Phillips unless you want to be verbally abused. Shame on you, Dr. Whittaker.

Dr Whittaker performed a colonoscopy on me. Everything went very well, without any complications. He is not only a very knowledgeable gastroenterologist , but has a great bedside manner. He was easy to talk to and seems earnestly concerned about me. I will, without hesitation, recommend him to family and friends.

Dr. Whittaker was very thorough with his assessment and exam. He performed my EGD without any complications. Explained my options for therapy. He had a very pleasant bedside manner. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

He and staff are always very professional and very caring. They reach out to make sure everything is correct and truly care for patients well being.

Dr. Whittaker clearly sets himself apart from other GI’s. I have never felt so confident and trusting with a healthcare provider than the service Dr. Whittaker has provided. Everything makes sense from the initial visit to long term solutions. Working through a disease can be a very stressful time for anyone and their family. But Dr. Whittaker really cares about his patience and has a great way of explaining things which anyone can understand. I feel good putting my health in his hands.

Dr Whittaker saved my life. He found my problem that I had had for 15 years and found me a surgeon. I live in Mobile AL..if I ever have a gastro problem again I will see Dr Whittaker. Thank you doctor..I am still doing great
