Retinal Tear
This was an office visit for what turned into emergency surgery for a retinal tear. I’ve worked around many doctors and often times they simply think on a different level. I had to trust the emergency process. I had no choice. Sure he was direct but not rude., and yet very reassuring. My 1pm appointment turned into a trip to day surgery just a few hours later. The following day was Christmas Eve and his office was closed. Still he met us promptly for a follow up to see how my eye was doing post op. He saved my eyesight so I’m not too worried if he gets a little sideways. I appreciate his quick response, his skillful thoroughness, and his availability.

I really like Dr Matthews but...
I really like Dr Matthews and his taff but be warned if you are expecting a quick in and out, under an hour, you will almost certainly be disappointed. I have never gotten in to an exam room at my actual appointment time. One visit I had a 9:30 appointment and didn't get called to the back until nearly noon. Very busy every time I have been there.

We take my mom since 2014. Every time wait times gets worse. Dr. Matthew doesn't care who is around he will yell to his employees and is very inpatient. I don't why is the long wait if he is always rushing. Maybe is time for him to retired.

Abusive. Very rude in words, yelling, and pushed my daughters head down hard in the chair, while reclining. She apparently, in his mind, wasn't fast enough. I would NOT recommend him. His office staff, in front, were apologetic and kind. If able, I would give a negative.

I have been to this office 3 times for two different patients. Each time the wait time was very long. New patients can expect to wait at least 3 hours before being seen. The office staff named Tim and Elizabeth are both very nice. Brian was impatient. Dr. Matthews himself is very short and impatient, he is rushed and had no bedside manner to speak of. I am not going to refer any future patients here.

A retinal tear led to a retinal detachment in one of my eyes, and I lost my eyesight in it. I was referred to Dr. Matthews, and he performed an emergency vitrectomy and retinal reattachment procedure right away. Dr. Matthews restored my lost vision, and today I am doing well and full of gratitude for the sight he have back to me.
