I was sent to Dr. Balfour for a work injury that he did not resolve. The initial worker's comp GP that saw me, referred me to Dr. Balfour and recommended a Nerve Conduction study. Dr. Balfour did not think the nerve conduction study was necessary, and took two minutes to ask if I could move my wrist and arms, declaring me healed. He acted as though I was making my injury up. I was not healed. I could not type without extreme pain. A close friend who is a worker's comp attorney told me that Balfour has a reputation of being a doctor that will try to move along worker's comp cases without fixing people and recommended asking for a different doctor. The new doctor was awesome, ordered the nerve conduction study and discovered I had severely impinged ulnar nerves on both arms. I was treated with physical therapy and was able to return to work. Dr. Balfour did nothing to help me, extending my recovery time with more pain and frustration. He is the worst doctor that I have ever encountered.

Terrible experience
Telehealth
This office has been “busy/booked” for a month and half almost 2 months I made an appointment that they only had available a month after my incident to get my hand checked and no one decided to call me to at least remind me about the appointment when I called then and asked they said you missed it and I asked what number did you have in file they had some random number that I had no idea about that the lady last time asked if she should change or not and I told her my real number. Fast forward I get a new appointment which is a week and half later and get a call saying this doctor won’t be in office on my appointment day he is not available so guess what now it’s moved to another day again. This is a joke.

Terrible experience, very dismissive, he refused to even look at my arm until I had bloodwork. After my tests results came in, he still wouldn't look or attempt to diagnose, and wouldn't discuss my bloodwork either, then told me he had no idea and better luck elsewhere. He never sent his notes in to my GP so they had no idea I had used my referral. Very glad I never had surgery from him. Would not go back.

Dr. Balfour has been treating my husband for several years for multiple hand problems. I find him to be honest and direct to his approach in managing orthopedic issues. His passion is hand surgery and in my books he is one of the best hand surgeons around.

I'm in my 20s and I had joint cysts in my knuckle that were causing me pain, preventing me from doing my job correctly. He treated it like a dumb request and on surgery day was late (and billed me for it), did a poor job (the finger aches now) and the sutures were lazy and eventually puckered leading to a mild infection. I now have an ugly scar because of it. I have had this surgery before with another doctor on a different knuckle and I know how easy it should have been for a qualified doctor.

Poor communication skills. I walked away with no advice on how to help my current situation, just wait for approval for next set of tests...
