Terrible communication
Did not address my concerns during the procedure, instead took a biopsy on normal tissue and didn’t explain why. Office would not call back after multiple requets for clarity. Will not go back, have lost all trust in this provider

Great care and professional
I’m very thankful I went to Dr. Atia. I had many health issues going on and didn’t feel I was getting the proper diagnosis from some physicians and some simply didn’t think anything of my ailments. Dr. Atia listened, was very thorough in his testing, and got me results and a plan to get me on a path to better health. Once he is with you he takes his time and will answer all your questions. His staff is great, but I would like to give a special shout out to Nurse Sarah. Sarah has compassion for patients and goes above and beyond to make sure they are comfortable, treated with respect, and their needs are met. I would highly recommend this firm for your GI and Hepatology needs.

Poor service
Hello, I went to Dr. Atia for an upper endoscopy. When I received my results a different doctor called me and told me the opposite of what Dr. Atia to me after my operation. Turns out it was the wrong information. Eventually, I got ahold of Dr. Atia and received the correct information. Despite giving me the wrong information from a different doctor, they still wanted me to pay for my visit. I don't blame him, but the office and practice he is a part of make it a miserable experience. I would look elsewhere for better service.

I went to Dr Atia back in June of this year as I have Cirrhosis. It was my first visit. It seemed to have gone well and then he scheduled a ultrasound of my liver to be done. I did not receive a phone call for almost two weeks even after he received the results. I called every day and they kept telling me it is in his inbox. Finally I got a call from the office manager who is his son to give me the results. The office manager, not a nurse or himself. I had questions, still no return call. I called so much that he dropped me as a patient and subsequently had to cancel my EGD/Colonoscopy and had to find a new GI which took me months to get into and still have not had that test done. The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor and his office with communication. I have Cirrhosis and am scared as it is and he sends me a letter in the mail to find another doctor. I would never go to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could leave a 0 I would. Waiting for a call back on the findings of my test. Supposed to be today at 2:00pm. It is now 4:30pm and no call from Dr Atia. Received a call from a NP named Kim shortly after 2. Provided my results and said the Dr would call when he is available. Mind you, never met Kim nor has she been involved in my case. Called the office and Alyson ( she’s a nightmare) answered. Didn’t ask my name just said Dr must be running late. Yet another reason I am RUNNING AWAY from this practice. Gotten to big for his britches and office isn’t being run effectively. I will spend my hard earned money where I will be treated better and my time will be taken into consideration also. BYE BYE DR ATIA

** BEWARE...DO NOT BOOK A PROCEDURE WITH THIS GROUP. I'M WILLING TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE AT ANY TIME ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE ** I was referred to ICDLH from colleagues for a routine procedure. On initial contact, I spoke with Elizabeth who was a great help. She requested insurance information and a referral from my treating physician which I provided within 24 hours. After 10 days without a return phone call, I called to inquire about setting up an appointment. Unfortunately, the billing/insurance department is incompetent and refuses to speak with their patients. ICDLH's lack of customer service in completely unacceptable.

Read all the bad reviews, the service here is horrible. I needed a new gastroenterologist after moving to Illinois. I scheduled a telehealth visit with george atia, and the care I received was abysmal. I explained to the doctor that I've been on my medications for four years now, and I just need an in-state doctor to renew my prescriptions. The first thing he did was tell me that I really shouldn't be on my current meds, and tried to convice me to switch. I explained to him that my current regiment has been working for years, and I'm not interested in changing it. I gave him my current dosage, and he told me it was wrong. Next, he told me that I need to schedule a colonoscopy, and need to repeat it every two years. This is completely unnecessary. My previous doctor only performs a colonoscopy every 10 years, and uses MRI for more routine surveillance. Absolutely absurd to suggest such an invasive procedure so frequently. I asserted that I really just need this prescription, since I was

From the initial staff person thru the doctor's examination, this practice is professional, polite and caring. The facility is spotless too. I highly recommend Dr. Atia for your digestive and liver specialist.

The staff is incompetent. They confused my insurance with the wrong company and screwed up a large insurance claim, delaying it by almost a month. It took many phone calls to clear up. They also failed to schedule my appointment at the correct office, failed to inform me when the office had moved, didn't charge me correctly for my copay, and then the doctor is always at least an hour late. HORRIBLE experience.

If I could give this office no stars that would be my selection. DO NOT GO HERE! If you were referred like some people ask for a second referral. His staff is rude, the office as a whole does not respect the time of patients. I was also in his waiting room for hours. He came in the office like nothing was wrong. If you ignore these warnings, you will waste a day in your life.

Dr. Atia was referred to me by my ob gyn for my first colonoscopy. Dr. Atia told me I had one of the healthiest colons he had ever seen, however I later received a bill for over $400 for a procedure that should have been coded preventative. I called BCBS and they told me to call the office and ask them to re-code it. I called the office twice but both individuals firmly refused to resubmit to BCBS. I reluctantly paid the bill and told my primary she should not recommend the office to anyone.

Waited 2 hours in waiting room for my 3pm appointment. No respect for patients time. People kept coming into waiting room and nobody going back for exams. Won’t be going back. Had intern do most of the work. Spent 2 minutes with actual doctor. Staff talking andlaughing but not assisting patients and communating as to what the problem was. A real mess of an office. They need a new office manager to evaluate their policies and procedures.

Dr. Atia did a great job and was very knowledgeable and professional. Only issue was the wait. If you have an appointment schedule it is likely you will not get in to your actual procedure or consult until 1 to 1.5 hours after that appointment even if you arrive on time.

Every time I have been to this office the wait is normally 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours past my appointed time. I think he's a nice man, however his staff needs to have a huge adjustment. I have left three messages for his office manager and have never received a response. I'm switching doctors!

Although we met with Dr Atia before the procedure and he agreed to perform a screenning colonoscopy, he coded it incorrectly -- resulting in over $300 of additional charges not normally covered by health insurance. His Billing clerk TERRY was completely unhelpful and insisted that I didn't know what I was taking about and that a mistake was not possible. The billing manager OSCAR was also a total jerk and would not agree to resubmit the claim with the correct coding even though BCBSIL did al

If you'd like to spend 45+ min in a waiting room just to see Dr. Atia for barely 5min this is the place for you. They'll also cancel an appointment the day of, because the doctor dropped your insurance. They'll move your appointments without even telling you and they'll be pissed about you coming "late" (when you were on time). If you need to ask the Dr questions, he'll just dump you at the front desk and disappear to his next client. It really felt like an assembly line.
