Canceled my appointment on the day I was scheduled
Never got to see her. I was referred by my opthamologist a month earlier. My 830am appointment was cancelled at 750am. I was told she couldn't treat my condition. At this point I don't even know what my condition is.

I had been having debilitating headaches and neck pain, and was seen multiple times over 2 months. Dr Athappilly meticulously reviewed each medical encounter, CT scan, MRI and labs with curiosity and thoughtfulness. I immediately felt that someone was finally listening. She spotted a couple of mild abnormalities in my lab results and ordered more blood work. Later that evening, she called me to let me know the lab she ordered was abnormal and she wanted to start me on high doses of steroids immediately for a suspected temporal arteritis, a disease that can result in permanent vision loss. Within 12 hours, I was feeling a little better. I feel confident I am now in good hands. I am so grateful for Dr. Athappilly for her amazing skill, knowledge, competence, and kindness. I have 2 newborn grandchildren and the gravity of never seeing them grow up because of permanent vision loss still impacts me daily. I truly believe she saved my vision and I will forever be grateful to her.

I had been diagnosed as having a condition called NAION. Sometimes called an “eye stroke”. I woke up one morning with no sight in my left eye. Dr Athappilly was so kind, professional and accessible. She cant fix my eye, but she was very thorough, making sure that the diagnosis was correct, and that nothing was pressing on the artery behind my eye. One of the best drs I have ever been to.

I presented to the Emergency department in serious condition of losing my eye and possibly life. Dr. Athappilly diagnosed me with a rare Carotid Cavernous Sinus Fistula which required a 5 hour procedure to close it off. She literally saved my life! Dr.Athappilly's quick diagnosis and professionalism made me feel very confident in her judgments during my 12 day hospital stay and several months of follow up care.

I went to hospital with double vision and excruciating headaches. It turned out I needed to see a neuro-ophthalmologist, Dr. Athapilly fitted me into her very busy schedule the next day. I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness of her examination and how advanced her measurement equipment was. She diagnosed a very rare condition which was later confirmed with advanced testing after I was admitted to MGH. Thank you, Dr. A!

Dr. Athappilly is a brilliant and caring doctor. Her ability to diagnose and to act quickly literally saved my husbands eyesight. He had a complex diagnosis with multiple issues, and had been seen by many physicians before Dr Athappilly. All had mis- diagnosed what was actually happening and failed to act quickly enough. We thank God every day for Dr. Athappilly's insight and ability to correctly diagnose his situation and mobilize her team to act. She was continuously available to us.
