Top orthopedic who is like his name, Frank.
I've had a total of 4 knee surgeries from Dr. Heckl, starting when I was 14 and tore my ACL and meniscus. It's true, he tells it like it is, but you know what, he also wants people to move and be happy in their body again. That was clearly his priority with me and even now, decades later, I remember things he said to me in order to take care of my body and have longevity with my knee. Wouldn't you rather hear the truth than be ushered a softball?

He is an amazing surgeon and a Christian who asked us to pray with him before surgery. The only recommendation I have is maybe a little work on his bedside manor, He is very rude. Even with the rudeness I will still see him again.

I have worked with Frank Heckl since the 1980’s in several surgical locations and referred both family and friends to him. He is truly an exceptional knee/ orthopedic surgeon. I have been part of his surgical team in over a hundred cases and know how good his technique truly is from personal observations. I personally would not hesitate to allow him to operate on me.

After my 2nd surgery with cartilage damage in my right knee my recovery was quick with a solid response to the recommended PT. Within 8 weeks I was back on my bikes, road and mountain. The following winter I was able to ski comfortable on most advanced terrain and conditions. Dr. Heckel's bedside manner is wonderfully personable and informative. After care was also outstanding. Good man, good doctor, excellent surgeon.

Dr. Henkl is a no-nonsense individual. I am heavier than I should be and he spells out the risks of not losing the weight. I completely trust his judgment and I had surgery on my right knee and he did an amazing job. I was able to walk the Camino de Santiago 5 months after surgery. He is a God fearing doctor and I would go to no one else.

Dr Heckl met with me regarding a knee injury. He immediately x-rayed and schedule and MRI after hearing about the injury and taking time to watch/fell the movement of my knee. He mentioned he suspected an ACL tear and fully explained next steps including the MRI for confirmation of soft tissue damage, PT, focus exercise that was limited to closed chain movement and PT. If surgery is needed, he explained the ways the surgery could be done and his suggestions for a woman my age and activity level.

What a waste of time. He is not going to help you. I have a problem with my ACL ongoing for 6 years now. He is not even willing to fix me. More rude than I've ever experienced in medicine. Told me to lose weight. I lost 24 pounds in a month of hard work and determination and he didn't even bat an eye.

Great dr. Will not just tell you what you want to hear, but will give you his unvarnished opinion. He is responsible in prescribing medication and exhausts non-operative alternatives first. He also does not write off those over 40 who want to remain very active in high impact sports but helps resolve the underlying issues. Dr. Heckyl will spend as much time as you want explaining and answering questions.
