Thorough and KIND Advocate
After switching to UNMH, I was post partum and needed a PCP, called and got an appt with Dr. Gurule at random. I have a TON of health issues for my age and have had so many bad experiences with Dr's in past. She not only listens, but takes the time to make sure there won't be contraindications from other conditions, medications, nursing of my infant, etc. When I developed post-partum triggered Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura after my last pregnancy, and wasn't yet assigned to a hematologist, she (without me asking) became my advocate, calling to check on me multiple times (because my platelets were completely unstable), calling the specialties to make sure I was getting the labs I needed while we arranged for a hematologist, calling MFM and my OBGYN making sure that everyone was on the same page. She's incredibly kind and will fight for you, and for your wishes (like continuing to breastfeed in the middle of a medical crisis), and I'm incredibly thankful I randomly got assigned to her.
