Afato wont fill out forms necessary for me to get my license back. He lied and said that Dr's need special licenses which is a lie

So far so good! He's really getting me on track!
I was so happy to find a Dr. in Yuba City that listens to all of my issues and addresses every one of them. I'm a new patient, but so far so good - I am thankful that my ongoing health concerns are finally being heard and addressed! I had great success with Kaiser but since moving out of their area my health has declined with the lack of any approach (or common courtesy to show up to my appointments) that my previous Dr. gave me. Dr. Afato is easy to discuss my issues with and seems to be taking the bull by the horns!

Extremly Disappointed
So I changed jobs and our insurance changed. Dr. Afato charged my wife $120+ "Office Visit" just to tell her that he doesn't take our new insurance. Probably could have just saved her the time and money with simply having his office staff call her and let her know. What a scam on his part.

I'm in my 70s, so I've had quite a few physicians over the years, including some fine doctors in the Army Medical Corps. Dr. Afato listens, asks questions, and is willing to discuss issues and options. When, for example, I questioned the standard cholesterol narrative and opined that homocysteine levels are a better measure of CVD risk, he acknowledged my perspective and ordered tests accordingly. Also, when the need arose, he readily referred me to a competent specialist. I like Dr. Afato very much.

Dr. Afato would not authorize a refill for my cholesterol medication when a recent lab test indicated it was very high. He said 'we' would control it with diet. A year later, after he realized his mistake, he actually wanted me to take the medication for a month before going back to the lab. My cholesterol is severely high this time. My new doctor has me on medication now and is doing labs more often to check my progress. The cholesterol thing is just the tip of the iceberg with Dr. Afato.

The dr like any human is just that. My best report happens to be a very hard Dx. My glands, were swollen, and I went to a dr that couldn’t find reason. He recommended one of dermatology drs who did everything but listen. Eventually my hair fell out, pustule pockets, rash , it all came to a lab guy told him I pulled my hair out. That cut like a knife so I marched to my wonder dr. Looked examined and prescribed for shingles. Needless to say I still get them but I know what to do because Dr Afro cleared it up and we worked out a regiment. I, being hard of hearing asked drs to write what they say down. I tell drs what is wrong not how to treat it. Patients should not read med books, only trained personnel, and let drs nurses do their work and pray to higher power for a “miracle “. I hear that is his job. You get out of a person what you put into it. I recommend him to anyone who wants a dr not a miracle man.

Dr. Afato's answer to everything is his prescription pad. Then if you have a problem with your medications he doesn't care or listen. If you want to get BETTER? See another doctor.
