Consultation
I needed knowledge on the different options I have to take care of my lower back pain. He was kind and patient with me, helping me know different procedures and what would be best for me. I have some difficult decisions to make, and now I have to decide what direction I need to go. Thank you for talking with me as long as I needed to get my questions answered.

Expert surgeon, compassionate dr. w a great team
From first televisit (‘second opinion’) appointment through surgery and follow, up Dr Braxton took the time to fully explain my deteriorating back conditions and his treatment plan to improve them. I knew I was in the care of an expert doctor who is also compassionate and totally relatable. His whole team shares those qualities and are efficient and responsive. Surgery went very well (I had the opportunity to be awake throughout) and recovery was easier than I could have imagined. I no longer have the back and leg pain which were increasingly limiting my ability to do things I love. I am so happy I came out to Colorado for Dr Braxton’s care.

Highly recommend. Instills trust and confidence.
I've had my lower back pain for over 10 years, now. Was afraid I was gonna have to go through spinal fusion and I've heard so many bad things about that. Doctor Braxton is going to attempt to fix my problem with a non-invasive procedure, instead. I can't really put into words how much relief I feel not in my back but in my outlook on recovery.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Braxton?
As a 70-year-old male, life coach, mental health therapist, and international operations adviser, I have never encountered such as rude individual as Dr. Braxton. For example, I made a tele-health appointment with him from an international location meaning I had to stay up until nearly midnight for our schedules to align, which I was happy to do. When he joined the telehealth meeting, he asks me why I wanted surgery. I said so that I can enjoy mine and my wife's favorite hobbies of hiking, golfing, and skiing. He was very abrupt, cut me off, and said that he didn't need to hear all that. I was confused as to what he did need to hear and asked him to not cut me off. He then said, even more abruptly that I needed to see another doctor. I must say he's right because to me, the human connection is most important, especially when involving spinal surgery. I hope you, having read this review, have a more positive experience with him as his qualifications appear solid and I deeply respect that he served his country in a time of war. Why he thought he could bark at me and treat me like a non-person truly escapes me.

Very successful Microdiscectomy
My experience with Vail Summit Orthopedics and Dr. Braxton and his team was overwhelmingly positive. I was in absolute debilitating pain for months due to sciatica from L5S1 disc herniation, despite PT, oral steroids, and steroid epidural shots. I was intimidated by the idea of surgery, but when I saw Dr. Braxton, he showed me published research on the efficacy of the procedure and thoroughly explained it to me. We also talked about the risks. I felt like I was making a really informed choice. His team was really helpful and prompt in getting my forms done for work/disability. A little over 3 months after my Microdiscectomy I was able to start whitewater kayaking again and returned to all activity. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Braxton for back issues.

Experienced and innovative
The PA was very thorough. The X-ray machine is in the office and the tech made sure he got clear views. Dr. Braxton is a medical vet who served on the battlefield in horrible conditions. He is compassionate, and brilliant. He uses research based innovations in surgery to minimize risks and complications. He is the talk of the valley. Many of my friends have experienced great pain relief after their surgeries with Dr. Braxton.

I so appreciate Dr. Braxton’s personality and professionalism. His demeanor is welcoming and reassuring. I was totally confident going into the surgery knowing I was getting his best, and, in fact, the best. Dr. Braxton would continually communicate what he was doing and preparing me for each facet of the surgery. During the surgery, he made me feel a part of his surgical team, interacting with me throughout the surgery. Dr. Braxton surrounds himself with a very capable staff (both in and out of the operating room) who are more than competent to promote the same ideals he holds. Anyone looking for any type of spinal surgery needs to check out Dr. Braxton. As with myself, they, too, can trust their back surgery to him.

From the first time I met Dr. Braxton and his team they explained everything so I could understand the treatment that I needed. So during the surgery and after they answered all questions and return all emails very promptly which is one of the first times that has happened to me. I would highly recommend Dr. Braxton and his time without question.

I had a lumbar ADR (artificial disc replacement)with Dr. Braxton last December 2019. He and his team are amazing. I highly recommend him. I was given all the information I requested up front (and more) and knew exactly what to expect of the surgery and recovery time. My surgery was successful and I am doing so much better than I was pre-surgery. My pain is pretty much gone (it was acute and chronic prior to surgery) and I am back to doing the things I love in life again (I am a female in my mid-thirties). I am so thankful for Dr. Braxton and his whole team. He is a gifted surgeon and a wonderful person. Again, highly recommend him for any spinal/neurological needs you may have!

Dr. Braxton and the entire staff, Nurses, Anesthesiologist, Assistants etc. couldn't have been better in their care for me from preop to postop and discharge. Everybody was friendly, helpful, professional and even laughed at my corny sense of humor. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. It's been 2 weeks since surgery and I am healing well and feeling so much better. I highly recommend Dr. Braxton's surgical expertise along with his entire team. I want to thank you all for fixing me.
