Creases
I wish I had read one of the reviews on this site before I had surgery on my eyelids. I have been a patient of Dr. Christie for many years and trusted his confidence that Dr. Happ would be able to fix my drooping eyelids. Well I now have a noticeable crease running down the side of each eye. The crease along the left eye is slightly longer than the one along the right eye. He offered to fix it but did not say he had made an error of any kind during surgery. I am unsure I want him to do anything further. I plan on seeing another doctor soon to actually tell me what went wrong and what if any options I have.So very disappointing.

Very poor suturing technique.
I should have stayed with Dr Randall Beatty, his former partner at AGH. Sadly, I assumed that Dr Happ was good at his job. Because my eye is paralyzed, post craniotomy, a gold weight had to be medically inserted into my eyelid, to help keep it closed while sleeping. (Dr Happ needs a refresher course on stitching delicate skin.) He should have used a running stitch, which would have left minimal scarring. His method was poor, several stitches popped open, I was horribly bruised and, now have a crease which gets dirt under it. He was recommended by my current opthalmologist, who may not have been aware of his poor suturing technique. My eye does seem to be closing at night, so the correct weight was used. Dr Happ is pleasant and knowledgeable, but I had a bad experience.

Dr. Happ seemed very arrogant, and almost annoyed when asking questions. I believe he is likely skilled but his bedside manner has me looking for someone more empathetic.

When I took my son to see Dr. Erik M. Happ, he was very sick after being exposed to Borrelia (i.e., Lyme disease). One of his symptoms was visual snow. After waiting an hour and a half in the waiting room and paying an $80 co-pay, we met with the doctor for a total of 7 minutes. During the entire time, he never even looked at my son. He sat at his desk scribbling notes in a file and asked me to describe the symptoms. After that, he quickly rattled off about a half dozen possibilities using very technical medical jargon and making no attempt to translate any of it for a non-medical person. It felt like someone was trying to show off how many big words they could regurgitate, but no one was impressed—it was cringeworthy. He then told my wife and me that none of those possible diseases/disorders fell into his specialty, and we'd need to seek a different specialist. He wrapped up his notes and sent us away, clearly more concerned with trying to get back on schedule than trying to help us.

He did not quit until we found out what was wrong with me, what was causing my symptoms. He is the one who found out it was MS. As long as possible I will not go to another doctor! I have been his patient for almost 10 years now. He does have long wait times but he is totally worth it!

Does not have any bedside manner. My wife is recovering from a traumatic brain injury with known migraines. He came in and flipped on the florecent lights and then proceeded to practically yell at her. She left in tears from the pain.

Very up front about what issue I had and said surgery needed and well explained! To here this was a strain but the way doctor happ talked it immediately made me feel comfortable! 3 weeks later had a large tumor removed from behind right eye and I have had no pain(0) for 10 days now! Swelling and black eye but he said that was gonna be! I recommend dr happ to anyone needed eye treatment! What an outstanding doctor!!

Dr. Happ performed a procedure in his office on both my eyelids. He was comforting and professional and confident. My surgery was painless and he eased all my anxiety. He was excellent.

Two and a half hours waiting and tests were repeated presumably so services could be billed and told nothing can be done. Was told there may be comfort in knowing an expert said nothing can be done. I said I didn't want an appointment if my condition couldn't be treated. Total waste of time and money.
