Outstanding
I have been seeing Dr. Hartl for a rare condition. She has been kind, helpful, and encouraging. She is professional, patient, and gives me a lot of time in helping me to manage my illness.

Bad repeat experiences
I’ve had a few appts with her and every time I feel so defeated afterwards. I came in for a specific test, she decided I needed additional tests, cool, but then only the ones she wanted were requested by the time I had my blood drawn (which was a while after my appt ended). So the test I came in for was not even done. When I asked about my carpal tunnel she said all we could do was splints or surgery. Previously increased my medication dosage without telling me when I was actively trying to lower it. Go to a different doctor.

Not great
Same as what others are saying. She didn’t ask me any questions or answer any of mine. When I got an abnormal result on a test and called with questions about it, I was told I had to schedule another appointment if I want to ask any questions about it. Worst doctor I’ve seen - no thanks.

Rude and not helpful - negative 5 stars
I went to Dr. hartl as a new patient and was seeking help with allergies and my PCOS/ weight loss. She recommended using my fitness pal (not helpful) or a ver expensive medication my insurance doesn’t cover (1,500) a month or a gastric sleeve. These are extreme measures. She only spent about 15-20 minutes with me and I left feeling worse and emotionally drained. I wish I would have read her reviews before making an appointment. Do t waste you time or money. This is by far the worst doctor I’ve ever seen with no bedside manner and just wants to use drugs or surgery with extreme measures.

Avoid -- a real time-waster
Lacks consciousness of the reality of an appointment -- a patient makes an appointment with a physician because the patient has questions, problems to be addressed, etc.; by contrast, Hartl acts as if the patient exists solely as an object of inquiry by the physician with no regard for the patient’s questions, problems, etc. As a result the short appointment failed to address my questions and problems.

Would Not Recommend
For all the reasons you read elsewhere. Erica is inconsiderate of others' time, makes you wait without remorse, rushes through your appointment, and even cancels appointments the day of without the ability to reschedule for weeks or months. I will be finding a new doctor, and should have after our initial appointment.

The worst
49 minutes late, rushed my appointment and fat shamed me for having high blood pressure, which only occurs when I have to see her by the way. See Megan Closser ANP instead.

Dr. Hartl didn't not listen very well or ask questions to try to learn more about my condition. She took maybe 20 seconds to diagnose me, and I didn't feel like my concerns were really addressed. The treatment plan she suggested wasn't fully explained and doesn't feel quite right. Ultimately, I just started agreeing to try and end the appointment as quickly as possible. It didn't feel particularly helpful, and I'll likely be trying to get another appointment for the same issues elsewhere.

Dr. Hartl clearly hadn't looked at my chart before our appointment. She seemed a bit dismissive of my medical history and didn't want to listen to my input on past treatments I had already received or on future medical treatments for the same ailment.

Don't recommend, I will not be going back. Dr. Hartl does not listen, was quick to prescribe medication (I merely asked for an appointment to discuss psychological symptoms in relation to hormones), and claimed to be more effective at diagnosing/treating psychological symptoms than a psychiatrist...Dr. Hartl told me that the medication she was prescribing can cause increased levels of anxiety the first couple of weeks but also advised against seeking out a psychiatrist, even claimed that psychiatrists are hard to find and don't take insurance which is not true...

Dr. Hartl was very kind and relaxed. She listened a fair amount, however she did not ask much about my previous experiences before she gave advice. While she did have good advise and input, she was not very personal.

Very poor connection with patients. Doesn't really care to get to know patients and it is like starting over every time you go. She does not make you feel like she is a partner in your health care journey. Would not recommend.

Dr. Hartl did not show any emotion during my visit with her, and acted almost as if she was annoyed with my presence. She rushed through the entire visit, I expressed a minor health concern and she brushed me off, and she left me feeling so uncomfortable and unhappy leaving the office. I would not recommend her as your family medicine doctor.

I waited in the room for her for 1 hour, then she pressured me into getting and exam a vaccine that apparently isn’t even covered by my insurance. I only came in for blood tests and check up and felt so pressured and uncomfortable. I will not be going back to her. Terrible bedside manner.

It takes 2 weeks out to schedule an appointment but once it’s scheduled you won’t wait long. Other than that, the appointments always seem rushed and she doesn’t address all the problems I tell her I have. I asked for a referral for a specialist to look at a problem I had but she said it wouldn’t help and didn’t write me the referral. Even though she thought a specialist wouldn’t help she did nothing to provide medical help herself. I will be looking to change my primary care physician soon

Easily the worst doctor visit I've ever had. Bedside manner was unreceptive and offensive. I didn't even want to stay for the exam and wish I hadn't. FREEZING COLD HANDS. I was so upset and uncomfortable afterward. I didn't even bother voicing my other health concerns because she made me so uncomfortable. Never going back. Save yourself the trip. Everyone else in the office was fantastic.

I like Doc Hartl very much. She gets what it is like to be an older woman with menopause and all the fun that includes. I am thrilled I found her. I found her very easy to talk to and it she made me feel at ease as I am always nervous about seeing any doctor. She is a keeper!

I am very likely to refer Dr. Hartl. In fact, my sister referred her to me. I have even moved to the far south suburbs and still come to Chicago to see Dr. Hartl. My favorite characteristic about Dr. Hartl is that she listens to my preferences and my beliefs. I expressed that I don't like taking medicine as well as a few other oddities and she takes that to heart. She gives ALL options. Second, she spends as much time as you need. I can ask endless questions and never feel rushed. A++++ Dr

Dr. Hartl is quick, a good listener, and caring. She always makes sure I'm feeling healthy, happy, and comfortable. I've only seen her for annual check-ups and mole removal but all experiences with her have been pleasant and efficient (which I appreciate).

I had a very poor experience going to see Dr. Hartl and will not be going back. She has terrible bedside manner (a very cold demeanor in the actual room) and also left me incredibly rude voicemails talking down to me when, in fact, either she or her office made a mistake. She also asked for tests from my prior doctor and said she would be in touch regarding when I needed to come in next and the plan. She never was in touch. Needless to say, changing doctors ASAP.
