Dr. Emil Kheterpal, MD

Dr Kheterpal saved my life. I had been to several doctors regarding my concerns of swollen ankles. Compression socks was the treatment I was recommended. After seeing Dr Kheterpal for unrelated issues for my prostate, he urged me to see a heart specialist. He knew that the swollen ankles could be a sign of a heart condition. Turns out I had heart failure and if I had waited any longer I might not be here today. Dr Kheterpal took the time to not only address my prostate problem but went above and beyond. I am very thankful to Dr Kheterpal and HIGHLY recommend him.

He didn't seem interested in my case didn't even request any of my medical records, Never made eye contact and wasn't helpful at all.

Went for a second opinion after some problems following surgery by another urologist. He is running tests that the other never ran and explains everything very thoroughly. Driving 3 hours for treatment. I trust him and appreciate his desire not just to do surgery but find the cause of my problems and treat them.

Dr. Kheterpal diagnosed and operated on my cancerous prostate. He used robotics, which is far better than other approaches. Understand this: he is one of the few who has tremendous experience in cutting edge technology related to his field. He’s patient, doesn’t rush to decisions (meaning he doesn’t panic - very cool), highly skilled in all areas, including immediate follow up. However, forget trying to communicate with him via the portal used. Frankly, the best way to get answers five months down the road is to reach his top assistant and trust her to get you answers; or visit the office personally and attempt either direct or indirect communication. Keep in mind Dr. Kheterpal’s popularity and resulting work load, but it’s worth considering if you absolutely must use a portal/professional email for constant communication.

Very thorough and skillful. Explained everything clearly. Performed a prostate biopsy on me targeting precise locations from an MRI.

I am currently one of Dr. Emil Kheterpal's patients at Associated Urologists of North Carolina. I have known Dr. Kheterpal since late 2017, when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Since that time, he performed my prostatectomy, guided me through my radiation treatments and is currently managing my active monitoring program. Throughout it all, he always demonstrated the kindness and caring that I needed to get through this difficult health issue. Now today, Jun-2020, I'm happy to say that I have no detectable prostate cancer and a new lease on life. This is all thanks to his medical knowledge, surgical skill and professionalism. I feel so lucky that I have Dr. Kheterpal on my medical team. If you are looking for a no-nonsense, straight shooter to help you with your urologic issue(s), then I highly recommend Dr. Kheterpal.

I had 3 scheduled visits with Dr. Kheterpal 2 of which he appeared for a few minutes, 1-he was a no show. He hadn't looked at any test results the first visit and told me what me symptoms were, didn't ask me, and after ordering some more tests, (some I didn't need), he wasn't there for the follow up (an uninformed PA was) a third attempt at a office visit was 2 minutes and him referring me to another Dr. The wait time for him is an hour past your appt. time. He seems nice but instills no confidence in his professional abilities and scheduling and time management are not his forte.

I went to the ER with serious kidney problems and I was very fortunate that Dr. Kheterpal was on call. I have a ways to go, but I trust him completely!

Dr. Khetepal performed a complex and complicated prostatectomy on me. In spite of the added time, and surprise findings during surgery, my recovery time has been amazing! I would (and will) recommend him to anyone with urological needs. We are so grateful to him and his staff for the phenomenal care and talent. I am almost 70, and was pretty concerned about the outcome. I just could not be more pleased!

What a wonderful doctor! Went with my 93 year old father to discuss a number of problems he was having. Dr. Kheterpal really listened, asked good questions, cared and took a great deal of time with my father. This is the demeanor of a great doctor.
