Possibly the best Urologist in the State
Dr. Kalorin is very personable, takes time to answer questions thoroughly and understandably, and is a skilled surgeon. Dr. Kalorin doesn't take risks. WakeMed Urology is a godsend to the area; they see you quickly and provide a detailed workup for kidney stones.

Bilateral stones are a breeze!
Had two kidney stones simultaneously, one obstructing and the other partially obstructing. Dr. Kalorin and the Kidney Stone Center team got me in for surgery quickly and utilized laser lithotripsy to remove all stones in the kidney and ureter. I was brought back soon after for the same procedure on the other side and provided the option to remove the stent at home. Initially, I was concerned about removing the stent but Dr. Kalorin explained the process well and it was far easier than I imagined it would be. My experience was outstanding. The facilities were clean, I was taken on time for each appointment, every single staff member I met was empathetic, friendly and knowledgeable and I was well informed each step of the way. I live over two hours from this team but it was well worth the trip to be in their care. I highly recommend Dr. Kalorin and the Kidney Stone Center team and will be forever grateful for their expertise as I navigated this frightening medical situation!

Perfect!
Not my first rodeo with kidney stones and unlike the last time (11 years ago, different doctor) this went flawlessly, from initial meeting through stone removal procedure (2 stuck in ureter, anther 1-2 still in kidney, all gone, other side clear). Could not have gone any better. Thoroughly explained diagnosis, where stones were located, options for treatment, and followed through to perfection. Cannot give a higher rated review. Hope you don't need him but if you do then see him, without hesitation. Simply the best.

Kidney Stone Removal
Dr Kalorin, was very good at explaining the procedure and the follow up removal of the stint. The pain of Kidney Stones gives their removal a certain urgency but Dr Kalorin was kind and helped me get through it.

Excellence !
Dr Kalorin is the best. He listened and took my concerns seriously and did not rush my exam. As a result, and after testing, prostrate cancer was found. And this is after my previous Urologist, only 4 months prior, said he didn't need to see me anymore because my PSA had been steady at about 1.5, which is low for someone my age.

Excellent Doctor
Dr. Kalorin was extremely caring. He explained every procedure and made sure I understood what was going to happen. He made time to answer any questions I had. He never seemed rushed. I felt as though he had all the time for me each visit. His staff was just as caring and concerned. Promptly answering my calls and scheduling appointments. I was fortunate to have Dr. Kalorin when I went to the ER at WakeMed North. My husband is also a patient, referred to him by our primary care doctor. He feels the same way about Dr. Kalorin and his staff.

Proactive qnd Caring Doctor
Dr. Kalorin was able to remove a 6 cm StagHorn stone and several smaller stones in one operation. He determined that these stones were built by infection. I had been going to another urologist for over a year, and he just kept me on maintenance antibiotics, even though I continued to pass stones and have infection. My urogynecologist ordered an ultrasound because my urine continued to show infection. The ultrasound showed a huge stone in my kidney that my urologist had not diagnosed. When I sought a second opinion from Dr. Kalorin, he told me that the only way I would ever be well would be to get rid of the stones AND the infection. The stones are gone, and Dr. Kalorin is doing testing 3 months after my surgery to check my entire urinary tract to see if there is any physical reason why I continue to have infection. He wants to prevent me from having more stones. I think he is a skilled surgeon and a doctor who cares deeply about the health of his patients.

Very impressed with Dr. Kalorin's skills and personal interaction. I always felt very cared for, and trusted his judgment when deciding on treatment plans for my bladder tumors. His caring and concern were very evident from his eye contact and his positive demeanor, along with his quality staff. We worked together for 6 years before I moved out of state to be closer to family. I would have continued with Dr. Kalorin as my urologist without hesitation and hope to find as competent and caring a physician in Minnesota. I highly recommend him to anyone needing a urologist.

Dr. Kalorin is an excellent Urologist and has the absolute best bedside manner you can get from a physician. He takes the time needed to explain your medical findings and treatment recommendations and patiently allows you time to raise any questions or concerns regarding your plan of care. Again, Dr. Kalorin is an excellent Urologist and I would highly recommend him to family or friends if ever needed.

Dr. Kalorin is unbelievably attentive, personable and amazingly capable in his care. I found out I had a kidney stone the size of a golf ball AND a half, went on an internet search for the best kidney doctor, and scheduled an appointment with him. My husband and I both knew at that visit that he was the man for the job by his demeanor, knowledge and genuine interest and care for my situation. He has never been in a rush when he has seen me. I had several requests of him before surgery and the biggest one was that he try and get every bit of the stone (as he had thoroughly walked me through the procedure, the "layout" of the kidney and just what it would take) and he miraculously and successfully removed every single bit of it!! I just had my two year check and he did such a good job that I was released from his care! I have recommended him to countless people that need help in this area. I will never forget what he did for me. If only every physician in every field was like him!!
