When picking a surgeon you want someone who's done a lot of the types of operations you're getting. He's a thyroid cancer master. If you need thyroid tumor removed, or the whole thyroid removed this is your guy. Recovery went extremely well, saved my parathyroid glands AND did a second operation I needed with NO complications. I was able to return home same day. Residents helping were also top notch.

I have had only wonderful experiences with Dr. Kandi’s and his staff. If he sees something abnormal he wants to take care of it right away. Very knowledgeable and caring doctor.

The focus is primarily on teaching, and more attention should be placed on patient care and better communication. Appointments are sometimes canceled or rescheduled without communication. The staff isn't very unorganized.

First surgeon recommended removal of my thyroid. Got a second opinion from Dr Kandil 2 yrs ago. His approach is to save the thyroid and only remove it when absolutely necessary. This avoids the tricky balancing of hormone therapy drugs. To date his approach along with RFA treatments have been successful in reducing the nodule's mass. I highly recommend Dr Kandil and his surgery at last resort philosophy.

My appointments are always rushed. As a result, I had numerous complications during my procedure. The surgeon doesn't take the time to explain the results or answer questions.

Details regarding surgery prior to the procedure were explained well by Dr. Kandil and his team. All of my questions and concerns were promptly addressed before and after surgery. I am very satisfied with the outcome. I have measurably more energy following surgery and my scar is healing very nicely.

Initially I chose Dr. Kandil hoping to avoid surgery with alternative treatment, but due to genetic testing positively identifying my thyroid nodule to be cancerous surgery was recommended. Due to a miscommunication, I ended up having surgery twice to inevitably remove my entire thyroid. After my initial visit there has been an attempt to reschedule every visit/surgery, sometimes contact was not made until the day before my appointment. The last appointment was cancelled without anyone notifying me. I have also had problems with the lab orders I was given after each visit. It seemed that they were written out in such a confusing manner that when I went to have the bloodwork done the clinics were never ordering all the testing the doctor needed. I live in another state 8 hours away. While I think he is an excellent surgeon, there seems to be some sort of disconnect with his scheduling and lab orders.
