Dr. Douglas Westveer, MD

Because I met Dr. Westveer only briefly, I cannot recommend him. While a patient at HH Hosp., he was on call in the ER-where he did introduce himself to me. The following day, after I'd been admitted to a hospital room and was having tests done to explain the symptoms that had landed me there, my husband spotted him in the hallway and asked him if he'd be coming to see me. He said he would. I never saw him again. The Hospitalist did come by but was very vague in explaining the cause of my symptoms- "maybe dehydrated, maybe strained a muscle in the chest." Late that evening, a nurse came in to tell me I was being dismissed. I was appalled. No diagnosis, still no visit from Dr. W. Just dismissed. After voicing my concerns I was eventually put through to the Hospitalist-again. I insisted on knowing what the cardiologist had found. More waiting; finally a phone call (indirectly)with Dr. W's diagnosis of severe Aortic Stenosis. Horrible communication. Stressful.Very disappointed with Dr. W.

Had Dr Westveer as my cardiologist from 2005 to 2016 in troy Michigan till he moved to South Carolina what a wonderful doctor saved my life a couple times .I have had many of doctors in my life of 70 years and he by far was no #1 would make the 800 mile trip just to see him thanks for listening David Reghi sterling hts.mi

I was early for my appointment and they took me early! Office staff very friendly and professional. Dr. Westveer was very personable and explained everything very well and patiently. I was very pleased with my visit and would certainly recommend Dr. Westveer to anyone.

I was very impressed with Dr. Westveer. He listened to what my concerns are and asked questions to further understand my concerns. He recommended two things that could maybe solve my problem.

This was my first visit to Dr. Westveer, and I felt very comfortable with him. He gave me a very detailed explanation of my condition, explained how we would address the issue, and answered all of my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. He seemed genuinely interested in helping me to understand what was going on.

Dr. W has always shown a highly professional and caring attitude toward me as a patient. I feel comfortable in his presence and have relied on him to give me competent and useful information. For example, about 18 months ago, he advise me how I could modify my diet to mitigate my high blood pressure. Following his advice, I lost 20 pounds and brought my BP to a better place and my lipid panel results improved. Can’t say enough great things about this physician.

Dr. Westveer is quietly comforting and thorough..he's a kind gentleman, but more importantly he is an excellent cardiologist, who I believe saved me when I was in Coastal Carolina ICU in Nov.'18. Dr Westveer takes his time to explain and is through he is a great doctor!

As with previous visits to Dr. Westveer, he once again provided the style of care I look for in all physicians. I think he is technically very sound, renders his assessment in a direct manner but in terms the patient can comprehend, and has an appropriate "bedside" manner. He can make you feel comfortable in his presence without wasting 15 minutes on idle chatter. If I were to choose one word that describes Dr. Westveer it would be "professional". I consider myself fortunate to have him looking out for my health.
