Dismissive
I went for an endoscopy. He was very dismissive after I woke up from it, but that’s not my main issue. My main issue is, I was waiting for a call back on my results and follow up, and heard nothing for a few weeks, so I decided to call. When I called I was told he tried to call multiple times and left messages, yet not one message or missed call was on my records. I’m not sure if there’s miscommunication amongst staff, but I shouldn’t have waited almost a month just to get my follow up scheduled.

Walters is not a bad guy on a personal level. He's just an arrogant doctor, and that is the problem. I have Crohn's disease and was in his care for 2 years. During that time, I got worse and worse. Instead of addressing any of the problems I was describing, he instead accused me of not being compliant with the treatment, which was always just a Prednisone cycle. I struggled with constant...bleeding, but no labs or scans were ever ordered to check. For a long time I thought he was correct and I was just not doing my part (which I was). Then, a flare-up sent me to the hospital for a total of over 80 days. Prior to this, he had blown off all of my attempts to tell him that bleeding had progressed. I had to get a loop ileostomy to fix this, and as a <30yr old female, it was devastating to know that the disease had progressed to that point because he thought he knew everything when all he needed was to listen. I cannot recommend the AHN gastrointestinal team enough. This guy was not for me

While he listened to and interpret symptoms and order appropriate testing to occur. All he was interested in was prescribing medication. He was only interested in the solution of medication. He avoided my requests for other ways to alleviate my Crohn's Disease symptoms and ignored my interest in being referred to a dietitian. When a problem is with the digestive symptom, I feel that examining how my food effects the illness should always be examined.

Did not do an exam with patient laying down, simply 'Examined' her while sitting hunched over in a chair. Patient 2 weeks later still has same issues as she did when he told her to take Imodium.

DR. WALTERS HAS ALWAYS TESTED AND DIAGNOSED MY GI PROBLEMS WITH ACCURACY , AND HAS TREATED THEM SUCCESSFULLY. HE RECENTLY DIAGNOSED A MORE SERIOUS ISSUE, AND IN A VERY TIMELY MANNER HAD ME TRANSFERRED TO A UPMC SURGEON. I DO TRUST HIS JUDGEMENT. HE APPEARS TO HAVE A LAID BACK BEDSIDE MANNER , AND IS NO NONSENSE, BUT HIS JUDGEMENT IS SOUND AND I BELIEVE HE TRULY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS.
