Doesn't care about the different needs & treatments that are necessary for Black patients. I wouldn't trust him with my health

My husband and I have both been Dr. Altman's patients for several years. The staff is friendly, the offices are very nice and he has always been extremely attentive to our needs and questions. He's very knowledgeable and thorough. I have seen other dermatologists in the past and I feel that he's one of the best in Buffalo.

I went in for a full body check and he stayed at a distance and didn't even look thoroughly. I had to relatively small skin tags underneath both of my eyes. He used the nitrogen on them-as it started to heal, I noticed both were still there, he completely missed them and destroyed good tissue. I called and they had me come back in and charged my insurance for something that should have been done right the first time.

His secretary who answers his phone is extremely abrupt, not friendly for being the contact person you get a first impression from, hangs up when she is done talking without saying goodbye. This happened the first 2 times I called the office therefore I have decided to find another Dermatologist. People want to feel comfortable and welcome when they are calling or scheduling appointments. First impression not good therefore have decided to go elsewhere.

Tried to get in for an emergency visit today. Was told there were no appointments available. I called back this afternoon to get an appointment tomorrow morning but the office is closed. I began to say, I'm not sure what to do since it was an emergency and they couldn't see me at all and the rude receptionist, immediately became annoyed, said, okay bye and hung up without even waiting for my response. I was hoping to at least book an appointment for next week but she was so quick to shut me up.

I had appt. yesterday. I was taken within 15 min. and waited in room 10 min. Dr. Altman was very thorough. I had lots of questions about a rash and he spent at least 20 min. with me, making sure I understood what was going on and explaining a script he was giving me. Dr. Altman and his staff are always pleasant and very helpful.

I called Dr. Altman's office with a severe/urgent skin problem. His office called me back within a half an hour and saw me the very next day. Dr. Altman is very efficient and his nurse Megan was extremely helpful. I would recommend Dr. Altman for all my friends and family. His staff is helpful and friendly.

I have been here for two hours and have yet to see the Dr. Altman. I would love to leave but I have already given the front desk my insurance information and paid my co-pay. One appointment with this office has taken an entire morning. At this point it doesn't matter how good this guy is, I won't be coming back. A 2+ hour wait time is absolutely unacceptable.

He spends little time with patients and is always in a rush to see as many as he can. His billing procedure is offensive and is managed by an entirely different collection company rather than the office.
