My retinal specialist referred me to Dr. Chiu for cataract surgeries on both eyes. The results she managed to achieve far exceeded my expectations. Both surgeries went well and her post-op appointments were comprehensive. Dr. Chiu’s surgical skills have improved the quality of my life exponentially. For anyone as fearful as I was to undergo eye surgery of any kind, I recommend Dr. Chiu for both her technical brilliance in the operating room and her follow-up care in the office.

Dr. Cynthia Chiu is a diamond. I had an accident causing trauma to my eye while on a business trip to Berkeley. It happened during the weekend and I was unfamiliar with the place. I found Dr. Chiu's contacts online as the Dr. on call for East Bay Eye Specialists. She took my call immediately and then drove a long distance to come meet me at her office on a Sunday afternoon when everything was closed. Dr. Chiu was outstanding. There was no staff around and she took me in. She was very caring in checking the damage to my eye. She took more than 1 hour to do a comprehensive eye exam of the damaged eye and also my normal eye. She explained to me the hyphema in my injured eye and my road to recovery. I was traveling to another city the next day, so Dr. Chiu even picked up the phone and called her colleagues there to set a follow up appointment. I felt overwhelmed with good fortune by how well Dr. Chiu treated me. She is more precious to patients than diamond.

I heartily recommend Dr. Cynthia Chiu, to whom I switched for my opthalmology care in her Oakland office. I have seen her before and after cataract surgery in my left eye and have been very satisfied with her care, her thoughtful explanations of all procedures, and the surgery itself. Her office is busy, but Dr. Chiu herself is very attentive and caring.

Dr Chiu is an excellent physician and opthamologist. I had cataract surgery on both eyes with her. She also teaches cataract surgery at UCSF. She is fastidious, thorough, caring and warm. Dr. Chiu takes her time and I never felt rushed during an appointment with her. I recommend Dr. Chiu without reservation.
