Dr Jumper saved me from major surgery (a buckle) by successfully tacking a partially detached retina when another surgeon was ready to go to the buckle. He said “let’s give it a few weeks and see.” It’s been 12 years. Unfortunately I have had 11 eye surgeries, but at least I can evaluate retina surgeons from the patient stand point and he is without reservation the best. I do not understand why anyone would give him less than five stars.

Over 7 years ago Dr. Jumper saw me on an emergency basis for a detached retina. He and his staff spent hours with me and later that day I had surgery that saved my eyesight. He is a master in his field. He is also a very nice person.

It has taken me several years before I was emotionally and physically able to post my experience with West Coast Retina. In short, their careless approach to patient care almost cost me my life. During a period of 2+ years I was misdiagnosed and operated on by Dr. Jumper. I had monthly appointments, multiple x-rays, 4 separate eye surgeries and many eye medications. The doctors at West Coast Retina NEVER identified the problem. I was ultimately diagnosed by UCSF with CNS Lymphoma. When we moved my treatment to UCSF, we requested files from WCR. In those files, from years before, there was an initial medical note recommending an MRI. But they never informed me of this and the MRI never occurred. My cancer could have been prevented. The multiple eye surgeries and detached retina could have been avoided. The sight in my left eye will never be normal again. I spent 13 months receiving chemotherapy treatments at UCSF and am very fortunate to be alive. Be your own advocate at WCR.
