Dr. Colin Zepeda, MD

One encounter with Dr. Zepeda and we requested another doctor! He was the hospitalist for an elderly family member. He was more concerned with prematurely discharging the patient; completely disregarding the other doctors/specialists on staff who were also treating the patient. HIS opinion was all that mattered. His arrogance is beyond astounding! He did not listen to family members questions or concerns. When pressed for answers, his answers were vague and dismissive. All the while assuring us that HE was the medical expert. HE knew more after a short hospital stay than the doctors/specialists who had been treating the patient for years/decades. Dr. Zepeda needs to be less concerned about the "Title" of doctor and more understanding of what that title truly involves (showing care, compassion, empathy, understanding, etc. for the patient and listening to their families). Maybe he needs to be on the receiving end of the care HE provides to get that message loud and clear.

If you would like treatment from someone who is empathetic and has a pleasant bedside manner, this is NOT the provider that you are looking for. This individual seems too wrapped up in his ego. He is consistently condescending to surrounding staff as well as patients and their families. I write this based on several interactions, not just a singular encounter. During one such encounter I addressed him as "Doctor" so that I might ask him a question to which he replied sharply back "It's DOCTOR". Since I had addressed him as Doctor to begin with, I'm not sure what he heard, but clearly he wasn't listening that closely and even if that had been a simple instance of not being able to hear me properly there was no need for the rude corrective tone. Seems like the kind of guy who would benefit from being a patient one day and maybe getting a view from another perspective. He may be a knowledgeable provider, but that easily gets lost when it comes to patient relations.
