Dr. Fortun is Excellent; Wimington Health Sucks
I would give Dr. Fortun 5 stars if I could, but since he is with Wilmington Health I have to take off at least 2 stars. If I could take off 5 stars I would, but that wouldn't be fair to the doctor. I've had an appt. for tomorrow that I had to cancel because it took me the entire 2 weeks prior to finally discover today that the location at which I was booked doesn't have the equipment for the procedure I need. Not only that, but I specifically requested that I not have a meet & greet appt, because I am already a patient. Today, after forty-some minutes on the phone (much on hold), I was told even though x-rays were scheduled & an MRI is available, that indeed nothing would be done tomorrow. I'm 81 years old & really don't have time to waste like that. That office has known for 2 weeks what kind of equipment & appt. I need, & after multiple promises to get back to me they did no such thing. I really like Dr. Fortun, but am tired of wasting my time on do-nothing-no-nothing staff.

From start to end, a great experience. Yolanda made my appointment. Friendly and caring while making the appointment. The team in X-Ray met me in the hall and escorted to the office where there was no wait. Very friendly and efficient. After the X-Ray, Deb met me in the waiting room and escorted me to Dr. Fortun's office. Deb was very friendly and fun to talk with while waiting for the doctor. Dr. Fortun was terrific. He gave me treatment options and walked me through each of them. After choosing a home based exercise program, Brandon came in and showed me how to do the shoulder exercises. Terrific team!

Great bedside manners, very caring and smart doctor. Takes the time to listen and provide the most genuine professional feedback. Cares about his patients, which is hard to find these days in a surgeon.

I wish I could post the photos I took from my OPEN Weber C fracture dislocation with syndesmosis disruption but I can’t. Long story short is that I had surgery, ORIF. Once I went full weight bearing my pain level exploded. I was ignored and told to walk more. Meanwhile my bone was infected, Osteonecrotic and collapsing over many weeks. I was bedridden for 18 months, lost our business (couldn’t walk), house and more. Now I am disabled. He saw my CT and acted like nothing was wrong- OSTEONECROSIS!

I'm an Infantry Marine who was injured in combat in Afghanistan. I endured great pain for 7 years before seeking treatment. I will be forever grateful to Dr Fortun and the expert care I received at his extremely skillful hand. His professionalism, and that of his team were unmatched. I've already recommended him with confidence to several others in the Marine Corps and will continue to do so. If whoever reads this has any influence over his retention or promotion, you should do so at all costs.

Dr Fortun and the staff I've encountered at Carolina Sports Medicine are very professional and caring. The staff and Dr Fortun are prompt and respectful of my time as a patient. Dr Fortun is very conservative in his treatment and takes time to explain your diagnosis and plan of care in terms that are easy to understand. Being in healthcare myself, I would definitely recommend over any other orthopedic provider in the area!

I am a 72 yr. old avid tennis player and developed a hip problem that could not be resolved with PT. Dr. Fortun, and his staff, have been awesome to work with on my evaluation, planning for surgery, and post op appointments for hip arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Fortun evaluated my MRI, recommended a plan for repair and was excellent in reviewing what was done and how I might progress. Four months after my surgery, I played in a tennis tournament!! Thank you, Dr. Fortun!!!!

Dr. Fortun is not only an excellent surgeon, but he is also a really nice guy. He performed a hip arthroscopy in August 2017, in order to repair a labral tear and femoral acetabular impingement. I was back to running, albeit slowly and for brief increments, just 3 months later. I just went for my first post-op 5+ mile run a few weeks ago and it felt great! I am pain free, which is amazing considering that even prolonged sitting could cause discomfort before the surgery. He is my miracle worker!

Dr. Fortun was very respectful of my time. He was straight to the point and never made me wait too long in the waiting room or in his office before he was available. Dr. Fortun treated me for a tear in the cartilage of my hip. No other doctor in Wilmington provided this service. I had surgery in September and was back to running 3-4 miles by end of February with no set backs or issues.

Dr Fortun was recommended to be by someone who had the same surgery that I needed. I tore my rotator cuff and was in pain just walking. Since the surgery, I haven't been in pain at all. The surgery itself was painless. From hearing recovery stories from others who went to different surgeons, I was expecting the worst but was happily surprised. No Pain At All! Four months after surgery I was back on the tennis courts . Life is Good!

Underwent rotator cuff surgery with Dr. Fortun. Had next to no pain during recovery and during PT. Was back playing competitive tennis in 4 months. Recommended Dr. Fortun to my girlfriend who needed rotator cuff surgery a year later. She had similar results and we are headed out to play some tennis now.

Dr.Fortun performed surgery, on my triceps, fantastic job, before during and after , actually came out to my wife, sat down and talked to her, and explained everything ,about the surgery and the needed recovery . My wife commented, about how none of the other doctors even came out to the others that were sitting out there. If you need a great doc that you can trust he is your Man.
