Dr. Cameron Sears is the doctor you fear your child will have: unsympathetic, unbothered, desensitized, and cruelly casual. My young son was treated by Dr. Sears for a fractured, angulated radius in his left forearm. After expressing concern over my 4 year-old's pain level, Dr. Sears cruelly remarked, "It's not like he needs a bullet to bite down on or anything." During this horrific casting procedure that manipulated my son's bent arm into a fully straight position, my son cried, gagged, and had a spontaneous bowel movement. When I later confronted Dr. Sears about his lack of concern for my scared son, he remarked,"Well, an apology at this point would only be shallow." Somewhere between marathon-running, bowtie-buying and filming commercials for East TN Children's Hospital, Dr. Cameron Sears lost the ability to comfort, treat, and empathize with the youngest and most innocent of patients. Please take it from a traumatized mother and run from this man!

Dr. Sears is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. He is willing to tell patients the truth, not just what they would expect to hear based on fear and anxiety. We are all very lucky to have an honest bone doctor, not just someone willing to say whatever patients might want to hear.

My child was a pt of Dr. Sears for many yrs. 14 months after scoli surgery, severe lower back pain surfaced. After multiple visits looking for answers, he told her to learn to live with the pain. All tests I requested were denied. Also denied the request to see another dr. within the same practice. A 2nd (&3rd) opinion at Vanderbilt revealed a fusion failure + other issues. Dr. Sears may appear supportive on the front end, but once he pockets your money for surgery, he moves on to the next one.

I am unsure how someone can properly examine a child that does not talk in 5 minutes. From the time he entered the room and we received the discharge papers was 5 minutes. I was very disappointed.
