Worst primary doctor I’ve ever had!!!
She doesn’t even deserve a star. Doesn’t listen to her patients. Doesn’t try to help with any issue just refers you to see a specialist. Had an issue with every referral I needed as she doesn’t know how to do them. Literally sent me a generic referral to see whomever when she was given all the specialist info needed. This was on more than one occasion. Whenever I would ask about this dr or that one she doesn’t have knowledge of anyone. I’ve even had to explain medical things to her as she is very uneducated or undereducated. She does the bare minimum to collect her check. Wish I would have read others reviews before I ever set foot in her office. Horrible horrible horrible! Office staff on the other hand has always been friendly and helpful.

Definitely Recommend
I have been a patient with Dr. Niland for several years and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. She has always taken the time to talk to me about whatever concerns she/I have. I actually enjoy my visits with her. She will prescribe medication as needed, but she is not a specialist and she does the correct thing when she refers me to a specialist. She is very quick to reply on patient portal.

I had a very informative telephone visit to review my blood work and medications today with Dr Niland. She has been our family doctor for several years and we respect her and highly recommend her. She does attentively listen to our thoughts on our healthcare choices, too. We think many people blame doctors when they don’t get exactly what they want but the days of getting an antibiotic for the sniffles are over. The patient portal is sometimes the fastest way to get a response from Primary Care of WNY (and the doctors in this group can’t be blamed if the telephones are jammed with calls during a pandemic). Our previous doctor who moved out of the area, Jennifer Henderson, recommended Dr Niland to us and this advice has worked well.

Very satisfied patient – Dec 21, 2021

First of all, the office does not have enough staff; very difficult to get through on phone and office staff talk fast and very impersonal. Dr Niland is very textbook, goes through the questions robotically and not much advice to offer.

She is a lightweight. I stuck with her for a few years thinking it was fine that she was not a MD, but a DO. Unfortunately I felt I needed to leave her after she told me that she wanted to put me on a drug that I said I didn’t need due to the supporting blood work numbers. She did the official calculation on her computer in front of me and said — oh, you are right. Lost her last bit of credibility with that.

My mother was her patient. She dreaded going to her, literally crying every time telling me how cold and judgmental this woman was. My mother wasn’t feeling well and tried to get an appointment quicker with a pa. The office denied her. My mother died a week later.the police waited in the phone for over 2 hours for this woman to acknowledge my mothers death. This doctor, not having seen my mother for a year, made sure she left her judgement of my mom on her death certificate, basically tarnishing my mothers name. To say that I’m upset is an understatement. If you’re looking for a doctor that cares? Don’t go to her.

Dr. Niland does not listen during visits. I was struggling with a few health issues, and going to the doctors office gives me a lot of anxiety. I finally prepared my symptoms and started sharing with her, and she cut me off and only addressed one issue. She immediately referred me out. This was only our first visit! She established no rapport, did not inquire further about anything I was experiencing.I do not mind if a doctor is direct/not bubbly or outgoing, but a patient should feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing physical symptoms to their doctor. The other comments below helped me realize that I was not making these feelings up and that Dr. Niland is not a very good practitioner. I think she is more suited for emergency room work. It almost feels as though she very obviously became a doctor just for the money, or that she thinks everyone is trying to get drugs.

From the moment I met Dr. Niland she seemed very disconnected and showed no empathy. I explained what was happening with me and she immediately suggested medication without fully listening or offering counseling, I had to ask. I tried to vent frustrations with my situation and she made dismissive comments. I tried to give her another chance thinking it was me being over sensitive because I was in a heightened emotional state. Our most recent interaction was worse. She gave me a hard time regarding completing paperwork for my employer and I had to call, show up at the office, and send messages through the portal to track down paperwork. She would not communicate with my counselor eventhough I signed a release for her to do so. She proceeded how she wanted to and told me what she was going to do without an explanation. When I called her out on it no response. She is the absolute worst.

Doesn't listen. When asked why she made a specific decision regarding treatment, she claims that she was told one thing, even though you know you told her repeatedly something different and that something different was even sent to her in writing via the portal. She refused to call me back, preferring instead to use the portal, even though I asked her with each of three portal responses to please call me to prevent continued confusion. Oh and her spelling is terrible!
