Malpratice Surgical error
After three separate office pre-surgery appointments and instructing MacKay three different times (one being 20 minutes prior to surgery) what simple minor procedure was authorized by the Veterans Administration and requested, MacKay ignored patient requests, did not inform patient of his intended surgical procedure, and performed an unauthorized major procedure resulting in a disfigured palm and damaged fingers with no ability to use hand for any purpose and impeding quality of life. Upon seeing the post-op results, the VA immediately scheduled appointments with an out-of-state hand surgeon for corrective and revised surgery (pending).Do not recommend Dr, MacKay for any purpose requiring an upfront and honest Dr and Patient relationship.

Everything. He is a very smart man. He is a very caring and kind man. He explained everything he was going to do to help me. His bedside manner is great. He always remembers me from one clinic visit to the next one. I would highly recommend Dr. Mackay if you ever need a Hand and Wrist doctor.

I just think Dr. MacKay is awesome in my book!
First of all I have seen him since second day when he came here. I trust what he says. He's has done 5 different surgeries on both hands. Excellent surgeon. I have referred several people to him. He listens and answers all questions about surgeries and recovery. It's nice to know when your hands hurt there is someone to help! I have no negative things at all.

surgery for reconstruction of hand
Words can't express how thankful I am to have him in helping me on my journey to recovery. He is very caring, encouraging, and is straight forward on what is needed to achieve mobility in my fingers. It has been a long and difficult journey with this injury, Dr. Mckay has made every effort to make sure the end result is a good one. If 10 starts was an option that is what he deserves.

Dr. McKay has been my orthopedic surgeon for the past three years and he has changed my life for the best for the better. I don’t know how to say how grateful how appreciative he is an angel in my eyes. He help me to achieve my goal and using my right arm, now I still can’t feel anything in the elbow down but I am able to use my hand in certain tasks that I never could do before his dedication and his knowledge and his love for his job is so amazing. He is a perfect perfectionist and he does the best job I have ever ever seen , he’s loving caring he is my hero. I can say that kiss without God in him I wouldn’t be using my right hand the way I’m using it now and I love that he wants to do some more to improve it is that really shows me give me the courage meant to keep on going and reaching my goals to the fullest. Thank you so much for having such a wonderful doctor surgeon, he is the best. I said he is the best in this country. Thank you so much

Pleased with care
On my last visit of 5/16/23, Dr McKay was not there and I saw his resident for suture removal after carpal tunnel surgery. He was nice and I could tell he was a little nervous. He only removed the arm sutures, no wrist. I had an incident of almost fainting, Dr McKay's nurse Cheryl was right there helping me and making sure I was okay (the resident had left the room after Cheryl showed up). I was glad she was there and once I was feeling better I was on my way. Just a weird reaction I guess.

Friendly and thorough
Dr. MacKay is a very friendly physician. We talked about many things including Alaska, since I’d just returned from a cruise there, and also about college football, which I’m also passionate about. He is very caring, and pulled no punches about the amount of repair he had to do on my thumb. He is an excellent orthopedic surgeon.

Very Kind and Knowledgeable
I cut my hand and it was not healing properly. My doctor sent me to Dr. MacKay. After looking at my hand, he offered three options for me to consider. My surgery is scheduled for August 1st 2022.
