If having the best doctor out there for women's health issues is your priority then Dr. Luby is definitely that doctor. He has dedicated his entire life to improving women's health care. His knowledge and compassion goes without saying. He has given me back my life. His mad skills on the da Vinci Robotic instrument has made my surgeries unbelievably easy and painless for me. The confidence from Dr. Luby from day one on what he could do to improve my life was mind blowing. He explained my condition and treatment options in a way that was easy to understand, and I felt reassured that I was in the best hands. I truly appreciate his attention to detail and his caring nature. He always takes the time to listen and understand my concerns, and I always feel like he's genuinely invested in my well-being. His dedicated staff is just amazing and helpful. They are always prompt and responsive, and I appreciate how easy it is to get in touch with them. Best doctor in the country.

I felt like more of an oddity than a patient when I saw Dr. Luby. I had had a ureteral polyp removed back in 2017 and it was a big one, so big that when he came into the room to meet and examine me, the first thing he said was, “8 centimeters??!” Not “hello, I’m Dr. Luby,” and not “Nice to meet you” or anything at all. Didn’t ask my name, didn’t introduce himself. It made me feel subhuman.To make matters worse, he did an ultrasound of my cervix but didn’t warn me when the instrument would be placed inside, and it really hurt! I yelped “ouch” and he didn’t look at me when he said “sorry.” I had heard he was a good doctor and maybe he is, but I didn’t like his bedside manner. I don’t need to be treated like a medical oddity and I certainly don’t need things shoved inside me with no warning. I switched doctors after that. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but my experience was awful. This appointment took place in 2023.

To begin with I was very frustrated with all the pre-op testing that Dr. Luby insisted on, I felt some of the testing was unnecessary but after all the testing and the long wait for the surgery I realized it was to my benefit and him being very thorough for the best outcome for me. Trust me when I say he is the best for any female gynecological problems, so glad I decided to seek him for my prolapse, I had very little pain and no problems afterwards, very satisfied!!

Have been a patient of Dr. Luby for several months. Easy to get appointment. Office staff is very kind, pleasant and helpful. Had surgery 2 months ago by Dr. Luby and the procedure went well and feel much better. I was skeptical about the outcome but as Dr. Luby previously told me, I was amazed at how much better I feel. He is very knowledgeable and really cares for his patients.

Dr. Luby took my condition concerns and facts and after visits and tests explained options that resulted in bladder sling surgery at WVU/Thomas Memorial in July 2023. I would encourage anyone with bladder leakage to make an appointment. He is a matter-of-fact doctor and a caring surgeon. He provides a plan for care and recovery. The office waits can sometimes be long, but worth the time spent. The staff is genuine. The surgery result is life changing.

Dr. Luby has been the answer to all my prayers. I went to see Dr. Luby for chronic pelvic and back pain that I have been dealing with for years. Dr. Luby discovered I had severe prolapse and pelvic lesions. Within the past year and a half I have had three procedures, a laparoscopic oophorectomy, excision of a sebaceous cyst and a laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy. Dr. Luby discovered that I had severe endometriosis and removed it as well. Dr. Luby explained the pros and cons with each procedure and answered all my questions and concerns. Not only is he very thorough to make sure he knows what he is dealing with, he is also kind, compassionate and genuinely concerned about your well-being. Dr Luby is extremely knowledgeable so much so that I have referred all my friends and family to seek treatment from him. The staff is always quick to offer a smile and friendly hello and help with whatever you need. I finally have my life back. If you want the best Dr. Luby and his staff are it!

Dr. Bernard Luby, with WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital Uro-Gynecology, changed my life! I've had severe stress urinary incontinence for years. Dr. Luby performed and placed a trans obturator mid urethral sling (TOT). It was an outpatient procedure that took about 2 hours. I had minimal pain and bleeding and could tell a difference before I even left the hospital after the procedure. For the first time in years I can cough, sneeze, and even laugh without having an accident on myself! Thank you Dr. Luby!!!!

I felt cared for from my first visit. Staff are friendly and courteous, scheduling was quick and considerate. Dr. Luby tested and made sure surgery was what was needed. In October of 2022, I first met Dr. Bernard Luby, a urogynecologist at Thomas Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. I found Dr. Bernard Luby to be a very competent doctor who demonstrated the attributes needed to work efficiently and professionally. He understood all my concerns and efficiently explained my diagnosis. Dr Luby is also caring and compassionate to his patients. Dr. Luby always made me feel as though I was receiving the best possible care, that my concerns were valid, that he was listening to me, and I was being heard. In conclusion, I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Bernard Luby. He has been very attentive to my health issues. I had complicated health problems, and he addressed them all. He is truly kind, compassionate, and extremely knowledgeable. He is a wonderful surgeon, and his staff is always helpful and kind. I am so glad I chose Dr. Luby and would highly recommend him to anyone!!

I was referred to Dr. Luby for dropped bladder, which it was not, but he was thorough in finding my problems. I had severe pain for years in abdomen and back. He did exploratory laproscopy and discovered severe endometrosis-all my organs were adhered to pelvic wall and colon. He said I was a real mess. He performed robot assisted laproscopic surgery and unbelievably, the pain I have suffered with for years is gone. I am so thankful for Dr. Luby.

I was referred to Dr. Luby by my primary care MD. Not knowing exactly what was wrong, I assumed my bladder had fallen (I am in my 50’s). As soon as Dr. Luby examined me, he told me it was “rectocele.” I opted for surgery asap, as I wanted to get it done and back to my life. I was blown away by the care given by Dr. Luby before, during, and after my surgery. He was at the hospital (even late at night) making sure I was healing and getting the care I needed. He was adamant about not getting an infection. He made sure I had meds, creams, cleansers, that would keep me infection-free while healing. I asked why so many blood tests and antibiotics, and he said he took it personal that I healed thoroughly. Some people may feel it is overkill, but my health was a priority to him. I knew I was in the best hands possible with Dr. Luby for my surgery, but had no idea the level care he gave through the entire process. An added bonus was he put me back together as I was at 18! I HIGHLY recommend!

I had great care and a successful surgery by Dr. Luby. You will always be seen by the doctor at your appointments - not a PA. Everyone is very kind in the office. The wait can sometimes be a little long but you will not be rushed when you get to see the doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Luby.

Dr. Luby is very nice and helpful. He wants you to feel better and is willing to do testing or a surgery if needed. He is the first doctor to not ignore my painful periods and wanted to help me. His staff is very helpful and nice. Sometime there can be a wait to see him but you quickly find out it’s because he takes his time with each patient.

Dr. Luby and his staff is wonderful. I had a hysterectomy in June and it was easy compared to other women who have had the same surgery. There was minimal pain and the follow visit were extremely easy. Dr. Luby goes to the next level of aftercare. He makes sure that your physical well being is progressing in the way it should be. Some may thing he goes overboard in caring for his patients but I am truly thankful for his caring.

I highly recommend this doctor and his staff! They are all very helpful and kind. He is excellent at what he does. Very knowledgeable and compassionate. I suffered from urinary incontinence for many years. I never did anything about it out of fear. Finally it got bad enough that I had to. Dr. Luby did an excellent job and I finally have my quality of life back. If I had known the surgery would be so easy, I would have done it years ago.
