Dr. Basheer Shakir, MD

I was flown by Air Lift to Wellstar North Fulton in Roswell didn’t know how bad of shape I was in. Dr. Shakir took me in and did surgery the next day. I could have been paralyzed from the fall and having a broken neck he treated me with great care. I am just being released from rehab and so thankful for his great care.

1 year post opp and I’m still in excruciating pain. I am a former professional athlete who has had several surgeries. My experience from day 1 of surgery was not good. I did not see surgeon at all before being discharged from hospital. I had several follow up visits where I did not see surgeon and only saw assistants. I saw surgeon first time after surgery in a bout a month and a half’s time. This is not what I e experienced during other surgeries at other hospitals. Immediately after my previous surgeries, surgeons were there when I woke up and were there at follow up visits. I’m wish I did not get surgery on my back at all at the age of 29 years at the time. I can’t enjoy many things that I enjoyed before in life.

I entered the ER in extreme pain from a herniated disc and was unable to move my toes anymore. Dr Shakir made sure I stayed admitted into the hospital until he could fit me in for my surgery. My case ended up being much more complicated and he spent the time and care to make sure I got better. After the surgery he stopped by my hospital room for three days to see how I was doing. I can’t express how much I appreciate Dr Shakir for helping me get back to life.
