He’s an amazing physician
I have been seeing Dr Arthur for over 20 years in some capacity whether it was for me or my late husband. Dr Arthur is very personable and will explain to you what is going on with your health and what he can do to help you in a way you can easily understand and will assist in making the right decision for you. He takes up time with you and isn’t rushing to get to the next patient. He will make sure before he leaves to see his next patient that you are comfortable with everything that was discussed.

Bad advice
I saw Dr. Arthur to treat my broken scapula and clavicle. He advised me that surgery was not necessary, that everything would heal fine on its own, that if I had surgery, it would be very invasive and would require a large plate over the shoulder and the clavicle, with a very long recovery time, and that if I saw 10 surgeons 9 of them would agree surgery was not necessary and the tenth would only do surgery because he wanted the money. He also discounted all of my concerns. I sought a second opinion from another surgeon who advised me the shoulder would heal fine on its own, but not the clavicle, and that the clavicle would heal improperly without surgery. Two days later that surgeon plated my clavicle. I am no longer in severe pain like I was pre-surgery and quickly gained significant range of motion. The surgery was not invasive and the recovery time has been fairly quick although it will take a while for the bone itself to heal.

Very competent surgeon who repaired torn rotater cuff of shoulder. Write down your questions and ask because he doesn't spend alot of time explaining.

At first Dr Arthur seemed to be very interested in my condition. After completing arthroscopic surgery on my knee which I’m still having extreme pain from, I arrived at my postoperative appointment to go over what he did and how I’m feeling. I explained to him although I’m taking pain medication from a neck and back surgery, the knee was very painful. I also told him that I was taking an inflammatory to reduce the inflammation, elevating my knee and icing it down as prescribed. But with all of this treatment I was still in pain. He asked me if I was on pain medication, which I already knew that he was aware of. I didn’t need additional medication but needed to know why my knee was still in pain. His answer and I quote “ that’s strange you are in pain more than most. You should take some Ibuprofen , I don’t know why you’d be in this much pain”. I felt that he was questioning my sincerity. He said I can offer you some therapy but that’s all I can do. Nothing was accomplished. A wasted pm

He is VERY professional, direct and to the point. He runs on time during appointments, has described X-rays and showed them to me. I can usually get an appointment within a week or so. I like not having to wait for weeks or months to see my doctor. He even called ME to talk about my treatment plan. His staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have seen him in the New Bern And Jacksonville offices.

I just shook the good doctor's hand an hour ago and thanked him for my procedure, my first surgery in my 68 years. Then I remembered this rating I had read here and decided to try and rectify that low a number. My nerve conduction test said I needed an ulnar nerve transposition. Dr. Arthur opened up my elbow, saw the ulnar nerve wasn't badly pinched at all, loosened it up some more and closed me up without moving the nerve. I now have most of my sensation returned to my bottom two fingers!

Dr. Arthur was excellent about answering my questions and explaining every step. He visited me every day I was hospitalized and was helpful and reassuring. His staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. My recovery from total knee replacement has been much quicker than expected. I would recommend him highly. We are very fortunate that he practices in Jacksonville as well as New Bern.
