Dr. Atul Maini, MD

I recently underwent a major surgery with Dr. Maini. My procedure was a hiatal hernia repair with Nissan Fondopulation. In the pre surgery meeting Dr Maini explained the procedure of robotic surgery and what to expect. He was very direct in his communication to me. In addition his in office staff was absolutely fantastic in taking the time to go deeper into post opp. expectations and how to best manage my recovery. After my surgery while in St Joseph hospital I spoke with several staff about Dr Maini and what I found out validated why I choose Dr Maini in the first place. He is very well respected and has perhaps the most experienced of any surgeon using robotics in the area. I found out from the staff that he has completed thousands of bariatric surgeries at St Joseph’s in Syracuse. I honestly feel that my surgery and outcome could not have gone better. Dr Maini and staff are fantastic.

Dr. Maini is a very good doctor. He’s done 4 surgery’s on me and never had a problem. Definitely go to him

I recently had gall bladder surgery performed by dr maini. i found him to be very compassionate, caring and above all extremely competent. my surgery was a little difficult due to bladder scarring and inflammation, but dr maini performed perfectly. i would recommend dr maini 110 percent to anyone who is considering surgery in his area of expertise.

Surgery was good. Bed side manner and aftercare I would give an F. After he removed the staples on the back of my neck and left me with an open wound,I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.

I had suffered from severe GERD since childhood, and haven’t had any since my surgery. Dr. Maini listened, explained the surgery and what I’d experience afterwards. He always listened and was kind.

I had a very good experience with Dr Maini. He did a thorough, altho uncomfortable, exam. He tried to put me at ease by asking me a few general questions and even making me laugh. The staff there was very friendly and kind. Dr Maini was busy but did not make me feel rushed. He was connected with me while he was with me whereas it’s usually my experience that a doctor will be talking at me but they’re in a hurry to get out of there and their minds are someplace else. Dr Maini did not make me feel like that. I appreciate that very much. I’ve seen a lot of doctors in my time and only a few have been that considerate. To most I’m just a body with a number. That’s as important as being good at your work.

As you walked in the office , you are greeted with kind staff members. His nurses are great and very caring . Dr. Maini is as well . I have had surgery and a couple of different procedures done by him . All went well . They take time and are very considerate of your medical needs . Highly recommend this doctor. Thanks again .

Follow up to an annual physical negative thyroid sonogram was methodical Dr. Maini listened to questions and concerns, outlined a monitoring plan, explained monitoring options as well as potential actions if needed. The staff was professional, no issues. It was a positive experience.

I was having terrible nipple pain , had surgery for clogged duct, he said it was very common and would be simple. during surgery he decided that he would remove a very small cyst that I did not ever see or feel, or discuss about taking out, he said that could be the cause. after a week i took off the dressing to discover he did not do what we had agreed on ! i received a bill for $5000 for the unknown cyst , and he said well come back and we will do the original idea !

Very informative with explanation of test results, necessary surgery (diagrams/videos of procedure). Excellent surgical staff and follow up.

He has very poor bedside manners. Does not listen to patients complaints. If over weight he pawns all problems with your fat when in fact it was a real issue of a hernia happening. If a patient is in pain he pushes it off and says a patient does not experience pain a week after surgery with finding out why patient is having pain.
