To see the span of reviews by other patients, one might think Dr. Sungarian is two different people. I have just had my third cervical discectomy with fusion. All three were performed by Dr. Sungarian. The first operation was many years overdue. I had been diagnosed in my forty's with a disc that was hit my spinal cord, and yet, did not want to proceed. Almost twenty years later I ended up in Dr. Sungarian's office to review a brain MRI that my PCP had requested. After discussing the results (I have a meningioma) Dr. Sungarian said, 'Now lets talk about you spinal problem'. I was flabbergasted! Apparently the doctor is on his game; because, I wasn't even thinking about that old diagnosis. He proceeded to tell me that if I prolonged surgical intervention, I may end up with paralysis. So, seeing that this was consistent with what was report years prior, I decided to trust Dr. Sungarian. He doesn't have the best bedside manor... he is a good neurosurgeon. Dr. Sungarian did right by me!

Excellent follow up!!
I was very pleased with my office visit with Dr. Sungarian! He clearly explained what I was dealing with from a TBI I had in 2018. I was seen at that time after being discharged from the hospital with him. I saw him now as a referral as I have had vertigo for 2 months & the Dr advised me I still had post concussion syndrome. I had developed a benign tumor in my brain which he will be monitoring. He was friendly & very Informative!

Literally Saved my life.
I never got to tell him how grateful I am. In 2010 and he turned me down for surgery which didn't make me happy. In December 2015 I was sent to Memorial and I saw 2-doctors that couldn't agree with each other. I asked my PC if I could see the surgeon who turned me down 5 years ago. It happened to be Dr. Sungarian. I thought of all the things I wanted to tell him, I can't live like this. In a short amount of time my pain went up 5-8 points and doubling my meds were not doing anything. As soon as I walked into his office he showed me my MRI on a big TV and told me I have something to work with now. I want to get you in tomorrow for surgery, you must be in a lot of pain? he wanted me in Memorial the next day but I begged him to do the surgery somewhere else. Thankfully he got me into St Vincent's 2 days before Christmas. On Christmas day I was climbing the 6 stairs outside my door every hour or two and watching TV. I didn't expect to see him but his after surgery team was awesome!!!!

Probably a great surgeon, but over extended
Great doctor, but spread too thin to give a patient enough time to discuss our problems. He already knows what our problems are, he’s the expert, but needs better PA’s or RN, office staff are the best but poor Dr. S, needs good assistants that are great not Condescending, listen to your patients , we know what’s wrong and what we need. I’m sick of being treated like I’m an addict, I’m in terrible pain and not shopping for a drug dealer !! How rude, and unprofessional, pan real pain needs treatment until a course of action and treatment is done , he expects you to die in pain for your next appointment two months later with just ignoring the tremendous pain. Dr. S has operated on me four times on my spine, sadly I’m still in great pain, he of all people should know pain !!! Drugs are out there to help as a part of treatment and quality of life.

Dr Sungarian neurosurgeon
I find him arrogant only caring about the medical MRI and suggesting the orthopedic was completely wrong. Even after my balance issue and needing a walker didn’t even asked why . One of the comments was it was my right hip and that’s causing severe pain and suggested not wearing tight clothes might help . I find him very unprofessional but the office staff were great . He should treat a person like a human being . Also he didn’t care about the comparison of the surgery he performed on me 5 years ago .Many times he said what does this have to do with anything. I understand a neurosurgeon can only do so much but he knew I was upset so he tried to get in touch with dr Vinton which should have been done beforehand. Then he said to have a nerve test that begins with e but said it would probably turn out normal anyway.

I recently had co-flex surgery with Dr. Sungarian for severe spinal stenosis. I am still in recovery but amazed at how great I feel. No more pain. My five stars is based on his ability as a surgeon. Top Notch! I am extremely grateful to Dr. Sungarian. I feel that I have my life back.

I'd give him a 0 if I could. He has the bedside manner of a stump. The day I had my surgery, he was a half hour late. Came into my room and never even said hello to0 me or my wife. He looked at some papers and stuck the in his jacket pocket. My post op check up lasted all of 3 minutes. Never moving from his desk, he looked at the scar. His cell phone rang and I awkwardly stood there he, he "your all set. You can go". Well, I can tell you where he can go! The most unprofessional doctor I've ever

Horrible. Rushes patience in and out because he's running late. Waited 1.5 hrs for a 4 min visit. I have herniated discs/spasms and it causes my hips to dislocate. He did not examine my back but on his paperwork he claims he did "multiple" exams. All he did was touch my finger tips and checked my knee reflexes which I did not have. Never checked my back. I asked him what I should do about the pain and he said physical therapy. Really? Don't waste your time and money on this unprofessional hack!

He was very distracted at both appointments I had with him. I felt rushed and, when I asked basic questions about my surgery, I felt his responses were condescending. He did not provide adequate post-surgery care. The office never even called to see how things were going after surgery. The only positive thing in that office is the receptionist.

Dr. Sungarian is the best. I had to have a spinal fusion after having two back surgeries in 3 months. I have never felt this good after the infusion. Dr. Sungarian took time to talk to my husband and I about what would be done. He never rushed us or made me feel like we were taking up his time. He answered all the questions I had. I went to see him for my 4 week check up. I feel great very little pain. His staff is the best. Dr. Sungarian is the way to go if you need surgery.
