Unhappy, disappointed with Dr Woodruff care
I was handed over to Dr Woodruff by the hospital ER. Following a shoulder surgery, my bladder was not fully working and I was catheterized. He told me to leave the catheter in place and his office would call. 16 days later I saw him, he scoped me and told me there were issues. His communication skills were lacking, he would not allow recording or provide follow up documentation via email or portals.2 months later he performed surgery. After, 10 days of catheterization, I was unable to urinate, had to return to ER, and after 3 months of catheterization and several office visits was still unable to urinate. Also discovered that a urine sample showed a UTI that his office never informed me of. I was fortunate to get in to Mayo Clinic where a holep and clean up surgery was performed. The day after the Mayo surgery the catheter was removed, a week after the surgery, all was great. Please be very cautious in considering care from Dr Woodruff. I spent 5 months in pain.

Great Doctor!!
My experience with Dr. Woodruff has been great!! I see Dr. Woodruff for repeat UTI infections. He has helped me understand that the pain is not always an infection. I APPRECIATE that he does not prescribe antibiotics without analysis - - I want to keep the body and system in good health and not blasted out needlessly by antibiotics. (antibiotics, when not needed, cause their own kind of fun) We have worked together and I have been UTI free for over a year. And that's GREAT improvement. I recommend Dr W to others.

I was referred to Dr. Woodruff twice for two different conditions. Each time, he asked no questions, did no exam, yet quickly came up with a diagnosis that was based on almost no information about me. I do not trust either conclusion. I do not appreciate the doctor's arrogance and condescending attitude.

I've Been Seeing Dr. Woodruff for a Decade
I originally saw Dr. Woodruff in 2014 for a large kidney stone. He performed lithotripsy to blast the stone so I could pass it. The treatment was successful and over the years I have continued to see him for follow-ups and all of the urologic issues that I face as a 60 year old. During the dozens of visits I have had with Dr. Woodruff over the years, he and his team have always been very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I have recommended Dr. Woodruff to several friends and family members that have had similar experiences to mine and I will continue to see him as long as he is available to me. I highly recommend Dr. Anthony Woodruff, MD.

Misleading and non-responsive
I was in the hospital with a large kidney stone and after days of dithering, he finally performed a lithotripsy with stent on me. He told me there would be no restrictions on diet or movement following the procedure. Wrong. I can't even walk around the block due to the discomfort from the stent. I was also supposed to have a follow up with him after about a week to remove the stent. His office was supposed to call me to set that up but didn't. We left 3 messages and finally got a call back 5 days later telling us to go elsewhere. I had no choice but to see him in the hospital, but after that I wouldn't willingly see him again anyway.

He was no help at all.
Saw Dr. Woodruff post hospital stay for a severe kidney infection. After finishing the antibiotics, I was still having kidney pain. The original Dr. I booked with was out for family emergency so I saw Dr. Woodruff last minute. He told me the hospital didn't know what they were talking about and antibiotics were overrated. He said just because I feel pain doesn't mean it's my kidney's or I have an infection. I asked him what I should do and he said go get an ultrasound and I'll see you in a week. He did nothing for my pain now. He didn't do any testing or a physical exam. I spent 5 minutes listening to him tell me that not many people understand urology like he does. He was arrogant and condescending. I felt like he didn't believe or listened to anything I said. I won't be returning and I'm seeking a second opinion. Not a good experience at all.

Do not trust this Dr.
Dr. did not know what he was doing. Made me have surgery 2x and then wanted me to have a third. Did not take care of my needs. Did not care if I had pain or other discomfort. Never again with this Dr. or office. The office Manager does not have empathy or compassion for patient care. Very rude and condescending. Now I have to see another Urologist to take care of my medical needs.

Dr. Woodruff has a terrible bedside manner and really bad at his job. He is rude, condescending, arrogant, and couldn't be bothered with questions. When I finally got a question in about whether my surgery would leave me impotent, he got offended 'You want erections, I'll give erections'. Wow the level of unprofessionalism is staggering. The ONLY reason I used him was because my doctor said he was good. Unfortunately, I think this was because they work at the same practice and want to keep business (ie. money) there. Even though I was young for cancer and posed extremely low risk for impotence, he screwed up the surgery. After the surgery, he came to my hospital room for a standard post-op. He was rude, insulting and couldn't wait to get out of there (since this generates no additional income). The follow-up visit was no better. He was late (as usual) and forgot to order radiation, cancer came back Horrible doctor, the absolute worst.

In all my dealings with medical professionals and being in health care as a nurse, I have never experienced such incompetence as my husband and I have experienced in the few years of him going to Dr. Anthony Woodruff, his office as well as medical staff. He performed tests and procedures which turned out to be done incorrectly causing pain and suffering over an extended period of time. Getting through to the office was a nightmare!!! "Pain endured, Time lost in dealing with the problems, Waiting in the office and Money spent by insurance companies CAN NEVER BE RETURNED. Don't Waist Any Of Them On AUS or Dr. Anthony Woodruff.

Ordered unnecessary procedures and subjected me to risks. His poor knowledge and diagnosis contributed to many years-worth of pain. Woodruff’s level of incompetence is criminal. He has an arrogant demeanor and communication style. I came in having had blood in my urine and pain in my lower right quadrant of my abdomen. I had a CT scan done on my abdomen which showed a 6mm stone. I asked him if the pain in my abdomen could be due to the kidney stone, to which he very stridently said "No. No. No, not at all". Instead he scoped my bladder, which was uncomfortable and totally unnecessary and ordered another CT scan! Due to his certainty of my pain not being due to my kidney stone, I wandered around to other types of doctors looking for answers. Years later I found a urologist who listened, explained what could be happening, and ultimately performance lithotripsy (which was successful). After the removal of the stone, I was pain free in my abdomen for the first time in my life.

I’m a healthy 55-year-old male. Dr. Woodruff did my hydrocelectomy in Q4, 2019. Dr. Woodruff is a pleasant guy and when operating he is “always ahead of schedule” per his nurses. He was 45 minutes ahead of schedule for me. I had major bruising, swelling and an inflamed incision for 4+ weeks. Additionally, the hydrocele grew back 6 months later. This happens <5% of the time. I went to Mayo for a second opinion and a second hydrocelectomy 3 weeks ago. The operation differentiated from Dr. Woodruff’s in that they installed a drain, cauterized all vessels, and added a Jabulet repair, (inverting the hydrocele sac) to stop the hydrocele from regrowing. Dr. Woodruff never mentioned the Jabulet option and his incision was sloppy compared to Mayo. I was told that Dr. Woodruff's procedure is an acceptable generic approach. The facts are Arizona Urology doctors make money per procedure and Mayo doesn’t. Wonder why Dr. Woodruff is “always ahead of schedule”? I would not recommend Dr. Woodruff.

This is the worst place in Arizona for prostate care. Had initial appointment, had the digital rectal exam, then had a biopsy done, followed by review appointment with Woodruff, then went for imaging to be done after I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The care could not be any less compassionate. Woodruff is a real butt hook. No humanity, no human kindness, no feeling for his patients, no compassion or caring. Office staff is rude and after having all appointments and imaging done (5 hours at SMIL) I drove the 4 hour round trip to Phoenix to speak with Woodruff about the recommended treatments and to get his opinion. People in this position are terribly stressed, depressed, frightened... and I get to the front desk and was told by a very rude receptionist "I DON'T GOT YOU SCHEDULED FOR NOTHING. YOU DO NOT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY." I had the card at home, my wife verified I did have the correct day and time. When we called them back, I was told that "the doctor is taking some days

I'm disgusted by the lack of professionalism exhibited by this practice. My MIL was booked for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, and her surgery was moved TWICE. They promised it would not move again, and yet it did, even though we are traveling from out of state to help her. They do not advocate for their patients and clearly aren't honest. I would not entrust my family member for surgery or treatment at this practice. I know it was the doc because the office staff actually tried to help us

The wait in the front is always over 45 minutes, once in the room at least 30 minutes. Very unprofessional front and back staff, Then the Dr rushes in and says he is behind and cuts you off. The staff seem very unhappy and when I have to see a doctor for serious matters I don't need that environment.
