Dr. Angela Hay, MD

My boyfriend and I had an unfortunate experience with Dr. Hay that I feel compelled to share. From the moment she walked into my boyfriend’s hospital room we felt rushed and unheard. The doctor seemed disinterested in listening to our concerns and was dismissive and argumentative when we asked questions. She was incredibly rude and demeaning. Overall, we felt dismissed and unimportant. I demanded a new doctor to oversee my boyfriend’s care I would not recommend Dr. Hay to anyone looking for compassionate or thorough care.

Dr. Hay was apparently responsible for authorizing my discharge from Huntington Hospital on April 9, 2024 following emergency gallbladder surgery on April 8, 2024. Although I had never heard of her or seen her before she showed up in my room on the morning of the 9th claiming she was 'handling my case' and would process and coordinate my discharge on April 9. I was told earlier in the morning by a member of the surgical team that had performed the surgery that I would be released on April 9. After waiting until 3 PM I informed the nurses station I would be leaving at 4PM with or without discharge orders. Throughout the day I had asked about my discharge and was told they were waiting for the doctor. I got tired of waiting and left at 4pm. It would seem Dr. Hay is not adept at case management and or coordinating with patients, staff and or other doctors. Suffice to say she will not be involved in any medical care for me or members of my family.

Dr.Hay was my in-house Optum physician assigned to follow my care, post surgically and with a subsequent stay. She was very open and concise snd thorough in our patient-physician communications. As a patient who has worked in the medical field for many years, Dr. Hay has the professionalism and integrity that is needed in all physicians. If she were in private practice I would be the first to entrust her with my care.
