I’ve lived with Hashimoto’s for over 10 years and came to Dr. Carrero to monitor my thyroid and hormone levels—not to “figure out what was wrong.” Despite a decent bedside manner, I felt rushed, ignored, and ultimately dismissed. She forgot to send in a prescription for allergic reactions, brushed off lab results showing high cholesterol, very low vitamin D, and thyroid levels nearly out of range. I explained my symptoms, history, and need for a dosage adjustment. Instead, she gave a vague pill-splitting suggestion and then I just asked for her to refer me to a specialist. When I followed up (politely), she had her assistant reply and then removed me as a patient for advocating for myself. I wasn’t combative—I was just asking to be heard. No one should leave a doctor’s office feeling gaslit, humiliated, and without medication. Patients deserve better.

Since moving to North Carolina, I have been on the search for a good doctor, and I am grateful that fate led me to her.Dr. Carrero expertise and knowledge are truly remarkable, and I have complete confidence in your medical guidance.

I’m not going to ramble on about all the issues I had. Didn’t listen to my needs and couldn’t pay me to go back to her.

You are usually given a date that's one month or more away when you request an appointment. The referral office (for specialists) is not reliable since they take very long to contact you and also do not ask for preferences in doctors (distance from home, gender, etc). Lastly, my first appointment was a total disappointment since Dr. Carrero had an "emergency" and since I had already waited a month, I had to see another doctor who was rushing and was very impersonal.
