So far it's been great! He did a thorough exam, gave me the range of possibilities for diagnosis and treatment, and even went over various options for where to get an MRI and how quality and cost would differ. His staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Dr. Whaley has done a total knee replacement on my left knee, and surgery on my left shoulder. He is an excellent surgeon with both repairs coming out beautifully. I highly recommend him to anybody needing orthopedic surgery.

If you have a workers comp injury see someone else. He has no compassion and does not want to look into seeing why you still have pain. He will blame your pain on catastrophic thinking and anxiety and dismiss you. His PA and staff are great.

I have seen Dr. Whaley several times (shoulder and hip) and recently took my high school son who plays competitive soccer and was injured in a game (ankle). My son agreed he is the best orthopedic we have ever seen. Knowledgable, friendly, explains things, listens to you... the staff are professional and friendly. Sometimes the wait can be a little lengthy, but that's just because he doesn't rush you through and act put out if you have questions or need clarification. HIGHLY recommend his practice.

I love Dr. Whaley. He is the best Orthopedic Doctor in San Antonio in my opinion. He has performed numerous surgeries on me. He has been very tentative and caring. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Whaley performed a total left hip replacement on me in 2016, and a revision in 2018, and in each case did an excellent job. I do not understand the few negative reviews regarding this physician, as he is consistently warm and friendly, and able to very patiently and clearly explain complicated matters. He is the most caring doctor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I count it a blessing to have found him.

Dr. Whaley did total replacement on husbands knee 11 years ago, on WORKER'S COMP, AFTER THIS KNEE HAD FAILED TO HEAL SIX TIMES AFTER 5 OF THE "BEST" ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS HAD REPLACED IT... Dr. Gottschalk, Dr. Dickey Jones, Dr. Hillyard... they all failed... God sent us to Dr. Whaley and I'm not kidding. Dr. Whaley gave my husband back his life, fixed his knee after 5 surgeons BOTCHED IT. Two years later, he did a total replacement on his other knee. Dr. Whaley is THE BEST.

The review dated 8/7/17 is an accurate experience I’m sure. My case is Workman’s Comp (WC)too and there has never been an issue with WC not paying, but Whaley must get paid less by WC because he really does treat me like dirt. I was supposed to be his 2nd surgery for the day and I arrived at the hospital for surgery at 5 am. BUT I actually sat in the pre-surgery hospital bed for 11 hrs. Before he started my surgery! Aftercare w/ Whaley very bad. He is cold and has zero empathy.

Dr Whaley is amazing! My husband went in using 2 canes to walk. He does not want knee replacement and Dr. Whaley, with the use of injections and therapy has my husband walking with no assistance. Love his personality and his staff is great. Totally recommend.

Do NOT go to this doctor. I had a workman's comp claim and after reviewing my MRI he promptly told me that they would probably not pay for it and to come back and see him after it was denied and they'd "take care of me" with my private insurance. He had zero personality and no empathy whatsoever.

The worst experience ever. If you go see this man under workers compensation don't. Request that they send you else where. He doesn't care about patients with workers compensation insurance, he tells you that workers compensation won't cover it, that you should come see him under your own private insurance. He is rude, doesn't even look at you when speaking to you.
