Knowledgeable, Patient, Caring
Dr. Nelson takes his time each visit to truly listen to your concerns, and takes the time to look and ask about your medical background before recommending or implementing treatments. I have been seeing him for about a year, with several appointments. He has wonderful bedside manner, is honest, and makes cortisone injections as pain free as possible. The staff at Seaview is equally amazing, I am so thankful for Dr. Nelson. I know when I have an appointment, I will be heard, treated, and respected. Thank you so much!

Rough and rushed
Too rough. His exam hurt. I can do some of the things he asked me to do but I have to do them slower. Never looked me in the eyes or seemed interested. Rushed through what exercises to do. I had to ask for the MRI. Told me he had other patients that could do more than I can. Didn't explain anything to me. I felt like I was none the wiser for the visit.

Avoid
Mr. Nelson, he’s not a doctor in my book, was very rude and I think he thought I was looking for pain killers. I had a torn Labrum and tried saying he didn’t see it on the MRI. Was very rude even though I was in pain. I stopped going to Seaview and thank god I did. I went to Brielle and got surgery cause I had a severe Bankart tear. He did not want to be bothered.

Misdiagnosed
Misdiagnosed me, was rude, stuck a needle in my arm and sent me to PT. The PT made my condition worse. I had a second opinion and ended up with surgery. New doctor could tell just from looking at the X-ray from Seaview what the problem was.

Arrogant and aloof
This doctor had to be the worst I've ever seen. Was arrogant and couldn't care less about my knee problem. He is either really burned out or incompetent.

BEWARE AND STAY AWAY!
Nelson is not a Dr and certainly not a Orthpedic specialist. Probably better off retiring and b a car mechanic. Felt the area of my wife’s knee injury said it was a contusion and swelling-normal for this type of injury. She explained to him she felt something snap and perhaps a MRI would be a good idea. He said see me in 2 weeks and we will revisit it. After a day we called again as she was suffering from excruciating pain and he said he would order an MRI after a week we called the office no MRI ordered! We saw a specialist in NYU Langone today who ordered an MRI immediately and the following are the results; Nelson misdiagnosed a serious injury and callously dismissed further testing and could have caused permanent damage! PS he had his assistant try to fit my wife with a knee brace he gave her a large brace that didn’t fit we had to go back and get fitted with a small.

I found Dr.Nelson to be rude and he doesn’t like questions. He doesn’t look at you when he talks to you. When I had my appointment he didn’t even look at me he just looked at the computer screen the whole time and got annoyed with all of my questions that I asked and told him what was going on. So he proceeded to say then why are you here and what do you want me to do about! He is very unprofessional and extremely rude. I would not recommend him to anyone! He defiantly doesn’t have a good bedside manner.

My experience with Dr. Nelson was excellent. He listened to my complaints, answered my questions, and successfully treated me. Great non-surgical sports medicine physician, but somewhat difficult to schedule an appointment with. That is my only complaint.

Dr Nelson successfully treated the arthritis in my knees. That may not seem extraordinary but the previous doctor i visited for relief from the arthritis pain, look at my X-ray, told me that i wouldn't need a knee replacement,
