Thoughts on First Visit with Dr. Gerber
Today was my first visit with Dr. Gerber. I was seen within 10 minutes of checking in by a pleasant nurse who took my vitals. I was immediately at ease as he was very cordial, asked a bunch of relevant questions, looked at the documentation I brought with me, asked my opinions, talked to me about possibilities, did not gaslight me (we've all been there), came up with an initial plan that made perfect sense to me and although it was a quick appointment (that, too, makes sense as there isn't much to do without new lab work and MRIs to work off of), I didn't feel rushed or that we missed anything. I left the appointment with a plan, a prescription that should help, MRIs to be scheduled, and I had my blook work done downstairs at the outpatient lab. Both the person who checked me in and the person who checked me out were helpful and personable, as were the lab personnel. I don't know what future visits will look like, but I am certainly comfortable with the outcome of this one.

I like Dr. Gerber and I trust him as a physician. Based on the medical care I've received, I would give him 5 stars, but the office staff is awful. There is no communication and they seem incredibly disinterested in helping. I've been calling about a prescription for 4 days and haven't heard a word from anyone. Extremely frustrating.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Gerber for four years I find him knowledgeable but very irritating when he is asked a question concerning my Parkinson’s disease he usually just shrugs his shoulders and really doesn’t answer and does not seem to understand how I feel and why I have never been told by him when I describe my symptoms to him and he doesn’t say whether or not it is a symptom of Parkinson’s or not he is also very curt and at times short tempered

Dr. Gerber is outstanding. The level of care he has provided to my son has been phenomenal. He treats him as if he were his own child. He never stops researching to find the best solution he can find and always has a plan b for just in case. I trust him more than words can say.

I've been a patient for years of this practice. Dr. Gerber's care is sub-par, I've always waited no less than an hour for an appointment. The office staff are honestly what has made me switch to a different practice. I'm never able to get through to make an appointment, when you are able to reach a staff member, they are rude, they disconnect the call..its just an awful place to have to interact with. I'm extremely disappointed in the practice, and the fact that it's a part of Albany Med.

I have been seeing him for more than fifteen years so I know him really well. I would not see anyone else. He cares so much and he tries real hard to help me every time. It is hard to find angels in the medical profession but I really do think that he is one.

This doctor diagnosed me with a rare brain tumor that 2 other neurologists missed. It was a miracle. He kept trying until he found the problem. He is a kind man and a good human being. I always think that is the best way to choose a doctor! I am a nurse and I know that doctors at big facilities like AMC are incredibly knowledgeable. They are the best of the best. This one in particular! He is brilliant! Trust me and see him once, then you will understand.

Saw twice and each visit was over 2 hours. And only saw him about 10 to 15 mins. Did not read my medical history which I provided records. Waste of time appointments.

In short he gave up on us when it became difficult. Kept my fiancee waiting month after month after month with not a single call back & no weekly prescriptions given that were promised in December (4 months ago). We were about to call a lawyer on him for malpractice, but went to a different doctor instead. This new doctor did FAR more for my fiancee in one week than Dr. Allen Gerber EVER did in 9 months. All he was good for was instilling depression, stress, lack of treatment in the 2 of us!

Diagnosed me without doing any tests, put me on medicine. Got a 2nd opinion... good thing I did because it turned out I had cancer and the medicine he put me on would have killed me after a few months. His staff is really rude on the phone and one girl screamed at me for no reason because i was crying.

Only interested in getting a kick back from drug company. He gets paid to do all these conventions about this drug he tried to put me on. He only looked at one MRI not even done by him and no other testing and tried to put me on this MS medicine. I went to a few other doctors for second opinions and found out I have another disease and this drug would have killed me. Scary stuff!! AVOID THIS DOCTOR.

Prescribed me Tysabri, without doing any testing to diagnose MS. He told me that Tysabri was the only medication out there for treating MS, besides chemotherapy.Insurance denied me, so BioGen donated the medication. He refused treatment unless his mark up was paid to him at his injection center only. I later found out he is the paid spokes person for this drug. I do not have MS, and further testing shows this treatment could have killed me. A dangerous money hungry man.
