Dr. Spitz of Novant Endocronology in April felt my neck and proceeded to tell me my thyroid gland felt normal. I had a full thyroidectomy in March of 2016. I gave them the opportunity to remedy this situation by not charging me for the appointment but they have denied such remediation and are charging me ~$300.

One of the Best
More than 25 years ago I was told this doctor was one of the best in the field. I chose him as I demanded excellency in my care of diabetes. I learned more from him than in all of my former years of being diabetic. I did all I knew to 'keep him' as my doctor but as a patient with over 58 years of diabetes I had a history and a hard time trusting the pump. He was very caring and compassionate overall but there were some 'crabby times' he seemed angry with me which would confuse me after not seeing him for 3 months or more. After having many of my appointments canceled and moved out further than my insurance allowed to purchase my supplies and an altercation with one of his phlebotomists at the time who was extremely rude and had hurt me in the past from bad draws, I left as his patient. Honesty is so important to me. I never could figure out what I had done or said wrong from one visit to the next 'in the last year'. I left confused and afraid. I still considered him one of the best!

Find any other endocrinologist!
Dr. Spitz was the most dismissive physician I have ever seen. As other reviewers have said, he comes across as arrogant and I left his office feeling unheard and not cared for as an individual. Additionally, I do feel that if I had been a male patient, my experience might have been different. I stayed with this office for two years before seeking a second opinion. I am grateful that I left, because my condition was significantly more serious than Dr. Spitz believed it was. My new endocrinologist believed that I needed more aggressive treatment and I am now cancer-free and doing well. There are so many reputable endocrinologists in the Charlotte area. I couldn't recommend this physician any LESS for thyroid disorders. Go somewhere else!

Dr. Spitz was extremely arrogant and disingenuous. He does not listen to patients problems. Novant Health should be doing a far better job at hiring diabetes professionals considering its CEO is a Type 1 diabetic himself.

Meanest Dr ever!!!!!!!!
Horrible Dr, Worst treatment I have ever encountered in my life. I literally left crying! Rude, arrogant, dismissive and hurt me while he did a Thyroid scan. Then admitted to it in report but saying I didn’t have tenderness because he purposely pushed down with pressure and I didn’t respond! I was too scared to say anything! He shouldn’t be a Dr!

Arrogant and doesn’t listen to patient problems. This dr replaced my old dr that left the practice. I won’t be going back to this place - they lost the only decent dr they had.

He's an incompetent doctor who's false diagnosis cost me over 2 years of suffering for what turned out to be a simple fix.

Dr. Spitz has by far been one of the best doctors I have seen. As a type 1 diabetic of 6 years I started with seeing him just shy of a year. He is thourough and has addressed issues across the board that were overlooked in the past. Since working with Dr. Spitz and his team my A1C is at a record low from upper 8's to 6.1. His passion for his patients and their health is obvious. I highly recommend!

He can be dismissive and not listen. Sometimes he believes you and other times he doesn't. Also very negative and doesn't give hope. My A1c started at 7.8 and I went down to 6.2, then 6.0 then went down to 5.8. Instead of being happy and positive he got on to me about my one 120 fasting sugar. And told me use another insulin when I just spent $200 on three other insulins. I'm finished with this office. I'm going to another doc who doesn't fat shame or give me hope.
