Mary Helen Davis recommends Dr. Basu
I was a walk in yesterday, Friday afternoon, with an emergency. I had an appointment to see him on April 11th over the same problem but it got much worse and I needed surgery. Dr. Basu took care of me and it has changed my life for the better. It has been tough for a couple of years and got much worse and he solved the problem . He is also very attractive, pleasant and a top surgeon. Holy Cross is very lucky.

Poor time management
Got to my appt at 1245. Left at 145. Never saw the doctor but the office got my copay. Gave this guy a 3 because he’s a great doctor, but apparently poor and time management or has no respect for his patients time or schedules. This happened last time too, but at least it was explained that he had a surgery that went overtime. This time he was sitting in his office

I was given Dr. Basu information by a friend who had visited and consulted with him. His experience was very positive and highly recommended to visit for my particular health consultation as colorectal surgeon. Needless to say very professional and caring. He took time to explain examination and subsequently on results was able to communicate the the possible treatments. The conversation was engaged in a true caring manner as to give me the opportunity to understand the procedures and expected outcome. The office environment feels safe and in totally professional hands. My appointments are always with no long waits or rush. The staff is professional and caring with utmost respect.

My husband went to Basu and what a nightmare. I am writing this review in hopes to save you from the experience we had. Starting from his office staff to his bedside manner. He is either really bad or just overwhelmed and taking on too many patients. My husband went in for a fistulotomy (sp?) Basu told him he needed to have the surgery done sooner than later- we went with his advice and not only did he not clean out everything-get the job done, he left an infection there with no follow up instructions. He told my husband he needed to go in for a 2nd surgery without taking the time to explain everything that was going on. For 6 months my husband had to deal with an infection and went through the whole process of going under and through surgery for nothing. Thankfully my husband got a 2nd opinion from someone who knows what he’s doing with a great bedside manner and after a successful surgery, he is healing and everything is looking great. Go to Dr. Sands at university of Miami

I met Dr Basu back in December of 2019 to discuss colon rectal resection surgery ..I was suffering for years with IBS , bloating , diverticulitis and acid reflux and a severe UTI and bladder issues that was making my life MISERALE! Dr Basu concluded I needed the procedure ASAP. The first surgery went well , then 3 months later he preformed a second reversal surgery to complete the surgical procedures . . I am four months out from both procedures , and now I must say now at 65 yrs old I feel 20+ years younger all those symptoms are history now . Dr Basu and along with his P.A Alexander and his staff were wonderful . That all played a big part in my healing and restoring my LIFE .I was going downhill quickly ..Thanks Guys ED I Pompano

I was going to have surgery with Dr. Basu. At the hospital, I saw Dr. Basu 90 minutes after checking in. He told me he had an emergency to attend to. He said he would return two hours later. A total of 5 hours passed and I decided I was done waiting. I told a nurse I was going home. She went to visit Dr. Basu and when she returned, told me it would be another hour before he would see me. It would have been 7 hours of waiting. I left. Not a good doctor in my opinion.

I would never ever recommend this doctor. Basu completed a hemmroid surgery and never placed me on antibodics after the surgery. I was a healthy 43 lady and was hospitalized for three infections the day after surgery. The ER doc told my husband I could have died. This was preventable if he used antibiotic after surgery. Five days in hospital and had the nerve to say it was good poisoning. Infectious disease doctor said no way. Had a PIC line for two weeks after surgery. Avoid him at all costs!

I don't usually leave reviews, but in this case I felt I had to. Dr. Basu performed a laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy on me - 12" removed. During my consultation with him, he spent enough time with me outlining (good & bad) what to expect post op and during recovery in the hospital and at home and what I would be expected to contribute to my recovery and healing. I'm 4 weeks post and am back to 100%. I would recommend Dr. Basu in a heartbeat.
