Care Philosophy: Talkspace partners with care providers who find satisfaction in providing therapy in a way that prioritizes the clients convenience and preferences. Because all therapy takes place virtually, through messaging, live virtual sessions, or both, providers can communicate more frequently and casually in comparison to traditional face-to-face therapy. Talkspace treatment methods are supported by scientific research and are committed to non-judgmental care that is inclusive and respectful of cultural and other identities. Talkspace patients are matched with the best provider for them based on their needs and availability during the registration process. Once matched with a provider, patients may change at any time, and may contact support to request a specific provider. *The above is attributed to Talkspace and not the provider.*

Biography: I am in my 22nd year as a psychotherapist. What to expect: Respect and Support - Most people find my straightforward approach helpful and solution-focused. It may not be for you! If you believe you are fairly certain you are "ready" then let's give it a try! Office hours: 8am - 3pm CST Timely responses Expertise - I have seen the impossible happen in person after person - 20,000 client hours! I believe people can achieve incredible things despite impossible odds because I've been there when it happens. Three questions I'm known to ask people in therapy: 1. If you had your financial life at 100% satisfaction, what would be left to do for you to be your ideal self? 2. Why? (no matter what people say, I tend to follow by asking, "why"?) 3. If when you awake in the morning, everything was changed for the better, what is the first thing you'd notice? About 60% of my practice involves work with adult survivors of sexual trauma, addictions (drugs, alcohol, sex) and couples recovering from affairs. I also offer traditional general mental health counseling for depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, particularly post-hospitalization or adults who are noticing symptoms for the first time. Other services include pre-surgery psych evals and group therapy. A few other notes about me I authored a workbook for couples, Infidelity Recovery Workbook for Couples: Tools and Exercises to Rebuild Your Relationship that has ranked in the top 100 Dating Books on Amazon since it's release in 2021.

Care Philosophy: I work from an integrative frame inclusive of body, mind, soul and spirit, and your ways of relating with your inner and outer worlds. I believe we're born with self-healing capacities and instincts that we lose touch with through being socialized, as well as through loss, trauma, and cultural or familial patterns that are imbalanced or a poor fit for our emergent personal nature and gifts. I work collaboratively with my clients in exploring your specific life journey with present-moment centered mindfulness and compassion, to uncover the unfolding that wants to happen into the next stage of development of your unique, authentic, embodied life. My clients hold a diverse array of values, beliefs and practices. I primarily see symptoms as friction points where life is asking us to become more aware, more accepting of ourselves and the world as we are, and more courageous and skilled in becoming fully ourselves while engaging in a passionate co-creative dance with the world around us.

The population I serve range from 10 years old to senior citizens. My treatment style is mainly based upon identifying an individual's strengths, and developing the tools that will best provide actualization of personal goals. The method employed to develop these action plans is drawn from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, client centered therapy, and relationship therapy. I have learned that the most effective psychotherapy is provided by matching theoretical constructs with personal skills. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston. My clinical experience began when I was in the U.S. Army. During my first year of service, I was commissioned to provide psychological services to all military personal at West Point Military Academy. My next assignment was in Viet Nam, where I became the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Mental Hygiene Clinic within the stockade at Long Bin, where I worked with American soldiers detained for problems of misconduct. Following my military service, I was hired by Texas Rehabilitation Commission to develop psychological service for the first program that was designed to work with adolescents. My next position was to establish a private practice, where I primarily focused on the delivery of psychotherapy. For over 20 years, I also was a consultant for three public school districts. Within that capacity I consulted with teachers, counselors and administrators in the development of programs designed for special need populations. I look forward to joining you in your quest toward personal development. I believe that all concerns, questions and attitudes deserve to be respectfully addressed. And I extend the promise to all with whom I work, that I will never say something nice just to make you feel good. Our objective will be to enhance self-esteem through honest communication and unconditional positive regard.

Biography: I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20+ years of experience in mental health and education. I have worked with clients from many walks of life and with a wide variety of issues such as depression, anger management, autism, sexual identity, relationship issues, and parenting issues just to name a few. I would say my "style" is to the point. Building a relationship is of the upmost importance but I believe it is also important to identify what the issues are. When it comes to working on those issues I like to be straight forward about them. I draw from several theoretical approaches (cognitive, behavioral, humanistic and psychoanalytic) but also consider myself, overall, an integrative therapist. My core values, when it comes to counseling, begin with confidentiality. I believe everyone should have access to counseling and that it should be no concern of others considering one's therapy (within the limits of confidentiality). I believe that at some point in time, in any of our lives, counseling may help. I also believe that people should be able to be who they are and pursue their dreams without judgment or persecution from others. I hope to offer my services to someone that can benefit from our interactions. I look forward to meeting you.

Biography: I am Casey , Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been in the mental health field since 1994 and licensed since 2002. My experience ranges from working with the chronically mentally ill in public mental health, private practice, inpatient psychiatric, diagnostics/assessment, crisis intervention, anger management, and employee assistance. My primary approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the effectiveness it has in pointing out negative thought patterns. I also love to use Solution-Focused Therapy as well. Through CBT I can help you see unconscious schemas that are leading you to do what you do, where they came from, how they developed, and ultimately how to become your own therapist reframing and moving forward on your own. I love working with all individuals but feel that I have a specific skill in understanding people who feel thrown away, bullied, and/or marginalized in society. Historically, I have always done very well with people that no one else seems to be able to help or reach. In your first session you can expect to have me ask questions of you so I can understand who you are, where you come from, what has shaped your beliefs and perceptions, and to ultimately plot a course for something better. Most people are nervous and do not know what to expect so what I will say is we will just talk. While I do happen to be licensed, I am human, equal, and not above anyone. I will make telephonic/televideo therapy every bit as personal as face to face. I am also very analytical and able to see/put together patterns, diagnoses, and have an excellent ability to "turn on the windshield wipers in the rain" for my clients. As a result of surviving my own trauma as well as being a survivor of a disaster, I realize that one event in anyone's lives can reverse the side of the desk they are sitting on. There is always that one event(s) that can put the counselor into the position of the client as well and shows our vulnerability as humans. I make it a point to come across as approachable and not superior and I am VERY responsive to my clients. . Also finally, please note: If you are covered under CVS/Aetna EAP then please choose another therapist as I am unable to accept these clients due to a conflict of interest. Also please note, due to time constraints, that I am only doing individual counseling and not couple's counseling.
