Dr. Rafla-Demetrious is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Weill Cornell Medicine. She received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and received her M.D. from SUNY Downstate, graduating with the distinct honor of Summa Cum Laude.Dr. Rafla-Demetrious did her medical internship at St. Vincent's Medical Center in N.Y.C, New York. Thereafter, she began her Ophthalmology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City in 1994. She then remained there to continue her Fellowship in Glaucoma. Upon completion, she joined the Department of Ophthalmology at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Medical College as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in 2000.Dr. Rafla-Demetrious's clinical practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and anterior segment diseases.Dr. Rafla Demetrious received honors from the Alpha Omega Alpha (AA) in 1991.

Matthew D. Nguyen, MD, is a board certified fellowship trained ophthalmologist with an interest in cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery including Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK), refractive surgery, anterior segment surgery, and general ophthalmologic practice. He provides comprehensive eye exams for corneal conditions, cataracts, diabetes, dry eye, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Ophthalmologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Nguyen was born in Virginia and grew up in New York and New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University in New York with a BA in Neuroscience and Behavior. He remained in New York for his MD at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was awarded the Behrens Memorial Prize in Ophthalmology. He received his ophthalmology residency training at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was given the Distinguished Housestaff Award. Following residency, he completed a cornea fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Kimberly Sippel attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, graduating with honors in Biochemical Sciences. She received her medical degree with the Alpha Omega Alpha honor distinction from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. Following two years of training in general surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Sippel completed ophthalmology residency training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. She then completed the fellowship program in Cornea and External Disease at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and is a recipient of both a Heed Foundation fellowship, as well as the American Ophthalmological Society Knapp Foundation fellowship award.Dr. Sippel also pursued several years of vision-related laboratory investigation as a Research Fellow at both the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Sippel is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.Dr. Sippel is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Weill CornellMedicine and the NewYork Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Grace Sun is the Director of the Ophthalmology Clinical Practice at Weill Cornell Medicine - Lower Manhattan and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College andat New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Sun graduated from Stanford University, with Honors. She later received her M.D. from Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where she was awarded the Edward Norton Prize in Ophthalmology. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Medical College of Cornell University.Dr. Sun served as president of the New York State Ophthalmological Society (NYSOS) and is President of Women in Ophthalmology (WIO). Dr. Sun has also been named one of "New York Super Doctors Rising Stars" by the New York Times Magazine and as Castle Connolly's Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area.Dr. Sun has a strong interest in global health. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nicaragua from 1999-2001. Dr. Noga Harizman, MD is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center specializing in glaucoma and cornea. Dr. Harizman is a leader in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery techniques, both as a teacher and practitioner. Prior to joining Columbia, Dr. Harizman was the Director of Glaucoma services at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, and served as an attending physician and preceptor for resident glaucoma clinics. She is deeply involved in creating the glaucoma surgical curriculum and supervising resident and laser surgical cases. In Columbia University Irving Medical Center, she is the Glaucoma Fellowship program director since 2021. She is also Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Harlem Hospital-NYC HHC, where the Columbia Ophthalmology residents rotate twice a year throughout their training. For her outstanding educational leadership, she received the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Teaching Award in 2011, and he Philip Knapp Memorial Residents Teaching Award at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2021. A native New Yorker born to Israeli parents, Dr. Harizman grew up in and was schooled and medically trained in Israel. She is a graduate of Tel Aviv University Medical School. Immediately upon graduating from ophthalmology residency, she began teaching and tutoring medical students on ocular anatomy and disease as a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology, at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. She then completed sequential fellowships in glaucoma and cornea at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she joined the full-time faculty in 2008. In addition to her accolades as a distinguished physician-educator with international experience and expertise, Dr. Harizman is known for being an effective and caring mentor for medical students, residents and fellows. She has maintained the highest professional and ethical standards and, enjoys providing care for her new and long-term patients, all while managing a full family life.

Dr. Jeffrey M. Liebmann is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Glaucoma Service Director, and Vice-Chair for the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Jeffrey M. Liebmann graduated from Boston University School of Medicine, completed his ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York/Downstate Medical Center, and his glaucoma fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Liebmann serves as Shirlee and Bernard Brown Professor, Vice-Chair, and Director of the Glaucoma Division of the Department Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and American College of Surgeons. Dr. Liebmann is currently Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Glaucoma, a member of the Board of Governors of the World Glaucoma Association and Board of Directors of The Glaucoma Foundation and Secretary-Treasurer of the New York Glaucoma Society. Dr. Liebmann is a past-President of the World Glaucoma Association, American Glaucoma Society, and the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology and was co-founder of the New York Glaucoma Research Institute, the American Glaucoma Society Foundation and ASCRS Glaucoma Day. In addition to maintaining a busy tertiary-care referral practice in New York City, Dr. Liebmann is Principal Investigator for the NIH African Descent and Glaucoma Evaluation Study (ADAGES) and Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS III) at Columbia University and is the author and/or co-author of more than 1000 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, and abstracts. He has lectured widely in the United States and abroad on glaucoma diagnosis and management. His current main areas of research interest include the causes of glaucoma, glaucoma progression, glaucoma surgery, ocular imaging, and neuroprotection.

Dr. Shi is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Shi is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and skilled in general ophthalmology.
