I am an obstetrician-gynecologist with interests in prenatal care, contraceptive management and infertility. I knew from an early age that I wanted to become a doctor. I enjoy my position as an OB-GYN because it gives me an opportunity to provide care and form relationships with women from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. I am fluent in Somali and know some Spanish, which helps me connect with more patients to help them feel comfortable communicating and sharing with me. My practice is a collaborative effort. I work with my patients to put a plan together, encouraging them to voice their opinions and be active participants in their health care.

I like the diversity of an ob-gyn practice. My work with patients covers primary care, internal medicine, surgery and of course, typical ob-gyn care. I am an advocate for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) and my specialties include minimally invasive surgery and high-risk pregnancies. I'm a good listener and I make sure to take all the time needed with my patients. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, swimming, hanging out with friends and traveling. I am a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and the Loni Burnett Cancer Society.

I decided to become an obstetrician-gynecologist because I like the multifaceted aspect of the specialty. Being an ob-gyn has given me the opportunity to provide preventive care for women, perform surgery and deliver babies. I enjoy working with my patients who are generally very motivated to participate in their own care. My special interests include treating abnormal bleeding and fibroids. I specialize in da Vinci robotic surgery and other minimally invasive treatments and work closely with my patients to help them understand their options. Outside of my practice, I enjoy travel and usually travel outside the country several times a year. I also enjoy skiing and bike riding. I am a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
