Dr. Diaz is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained refractive surgeon, specializing in cataract surgery and laser vision correction. She attended the University of South Florida where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. She holds a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine and completed her internship in internal medicine and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. She also served as chief resident of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida. Dr. Diaz's research activities during her training included complex cataract cases, wound healing during LASIK and custom refractive surgery outcomes. She has presented at various state and national meetings including Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology. Dr. Diaz is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. In addition to her medical interests, Dr. Diaz enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, along with scuba diving, bicycling, fishing, traveling and motorcycle riding.
