Biography: I am a professional counselor licensed in the state of Texas with over 18 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns as well as diagnosis. Over the past 15 plus years in private practice I have enjoyed working with the military community and lifestyle; anxiety and depression; medical conditions that affect our mental health; pre and post bariatric patients; womens issues; relational issues, and recently those who suffer from the effects of this pandemic. My therapy style is assertive, interactive and realistic. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I believe therapy is a process that clients internalize as their own, and learn to trust with my help. As humans we are faced with challenges and changes in all of life experiences. While change is something we seek in many things, it is often something we resist. As a a therapist who utilizes several modalities such as CBT, Solution focused and Rational emotive therapy I strive to help patients grow, understand and advocate for their overall health and well being. My focus and interest is to help educate patients on what affects them and increase their coping skills to manage life better. Their adventure to understand who they are and what they choose to respond or react to, from nutrition; to movement; the love they seek or to decrease the limits they place on having a relationship with themself are just a few of the baselines that I aim to help them set. To confront anxiety, depression, life changing circumstances, mental and physical health issues takes tremendous courage and hard work; therefore anyone having access and taking the time to enter this process is respected and nurtured as they open themselves up to find resilience in small and manageable bites. It is the courage that you take to seek a more fulfilling and happier life that are the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take those steps then I am here to support and help you find what empowers you to being a better you. I look forward to working with you!

Biography: Life has taught me we are never finished learning and growing. I am person who loves old cars, Marvel Movies, good books, and family. Peoples' life stories fascinate me and stoke my curiosity as well as being impressed with my clients' endurance, strength, and courage. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist with 28 years' experience working with individuals, families, and couples. My clients have taught me no one can truly walk in someone's shoes; even similar experiences are different because people are different. I obtained a Master's in Professional Counseling and a Doctorate in Child Development. My Doctorate in Child Development was acquired to add a dimension of understanding to my clients. My studies indicate most of us have childhood wounds that effect how we deal with life as adults. By understanding human development, I often see where the injuries began and how to help to overcome these challenges. People bring an array of issues into our counseling sessions. Whether it is anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, parenting struggles, lack of motivation, or trauma from the past all can be dealt with in therapy. An individual approach will be devised for each person, family, or couple. Trust is something I expect to earn from my clients, so please feel free to ask questions. I strive to create a therapeutic environment comprised of nonjudgmental compassionate care. Two of the many theories I work with are Family of Origin (FOO) and Cognitive Behavioral (CBT). FOO allows an exploration of patterns learned in childhood and how we deal with these influences. The CBT approach helps people understand how decisions about relationship are formed and change negative thought narratives. Before our first session please define one or two achievable goals for our focus. Goals help me stay on task with what you want from our time together. The analogy I use for goal setting is like planning a trip. Are we headed to New York or Los Angeles? It is important to know which direction we are headed. By knowing the destination, we then know when we have arrived. I will work within your values and goals. Do not be surprised if I give you homework. I find it helps keep clients' therapy in motion. I look forward to meeting with you, Melody A. Hubnik, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT

Your Counselor's office can provide information about financial assistance, which may be referred to as charity care. Some doctor's offices also offer payment plans that allow you to pay your bill over a certain period of time.
If you need to receive care at a hospital, you may qualify for financial assistance through that hospital. If you receive care at a non-profit hospital, you must be offered financial assistance if you cannot afford to pay. If you participate in a government program, such as Medicaid or Medicare, those programs' websites can offer guidance about coverage for the care you need.
Your hospital may also have a patient advocate on staff who can help guide you through your coverage or your financial assistance options. You can also find your own guide through the Patient Advocate Foundation.

It is important to remember that you are a partner with your Counselor as you find the right treatment plan for you. You have a voice in your healthcare decisions, and it is important to communicate your goals and preferences clearly to get the highest quality of care.
Ways to advocate for yourself during appointments include: preparing questions in advance to ask your doctor, bringing someone with you to listen and take notes, asking your Counselor to clarify when you do not understand something, and being honest when you have concerns.
If you are unsure about a recommended treatment, tell your doctor you want to seek a second opinion. A quality Counselor will not take offense at this; rather, a good doctor wants to get as much information as possible to make the right treatment choice. If your Counselor does question your interest in a second opinion, it may be a sign that another Counselor may be a better fit for you.
